I don't want to be a negative campaigner but don't reckon we get close to chokingwood with that effort. And Rance out for the year almost puts a line through us as a premiership chance. Going to be really really tough now. :(

I'd go with Garthwaite in the backline. Balta will be too erratic to play there, I think.

Need the stability down back and keep Grimes as the third tall. Garth could play the second, Balta would struggle.

So two options Balta to the backline Soldo in.

Or

Garthwaite

Until Garthwaite is ready I favour Balta but it will be a wild and frustrating ride

I say a great opportunity for garthwaite , we were ok tonight , the tankers are always up for rnd 1 .

But if we manage to pull it off, how good would it be? It’d almost be better than 2017 because we did it without one of our stars, proving a lot of opposition supporters wrong.

One player doesn’t make a team. As good as Rance is, we can’t just throw in the towel. The players won’t, so why should the fans?
I think it’s pathetic to give up on the season, if you’re one of those people, we don’t need you in our supporter group.

Just got home, and feel extremely flat. Rance’s injury has confirmed for me we are done this year. He’s so important it’s not funny. As our most important player, we need him for finals and obviously the GF. Hate to say it but I think we’re *****.

Not many positives tonight either. Hopefully it was just round 1 skill errors but we were really awful. Yes there were about 1 or 2 good plays of the night but we made Carlton look better than us for most of the match. We are lucky they didn’t kick the back accurately to their forwards.

We play like this next week against Collingwood and we will loose by 60.
Wishing rance all the best. Hoping we see him next year.
We need to prepare our backline without rance. Garthwaite has massive shoes to fill.
