I have to disagree. He legit got his hands to nothing last night. He jumped under the ball, jumped on his man, didn't put his hands up, dropped 2 easy chest marks, showed ZERO intensity, didn't chase at all. I heard his GPS numbers were solid but that was absolutely putrid from CC. If he's not right then leave him out, if he's putting up that drop him. Simple as that. There's nothing worse for a young team to work their backsides off getting the ball into the F50 (albeit with poor disposal)...for it to come straight back out with no pressure. If H keeps this up he'll go past him at a rate of knots.Charlie Curnow just needs to clunk some marks. He legit gets his hands on everything. He doesn't have to take the spectaculars in large packs but simple marks leading up on the wing/half forward just needs to hold them. Think he is confidence player and didn't get off to a great start this game and never got going from there. If he takes some marks early in a game and gets confidence he has the potential to be anything.
Twice!!Higgins played on

Disgusting incident at the end of the game with a scuffle. The campaigner Richmond flog who punched out the bloke should be banned for life.

So you've seen this first hand then?I don't go round taking videos of footballers for a living buddy
I agree. the problem is we simply don't have AFL quality small forwards. I've been shouting on this forum about this for a few years now.If Ed isn't good enough to make our midfield, get him out of the team. He has no redeemable qualities as a forward.
He is one paced, lacks agility, depth in his kicking, can't mark. He's just no good there and was never going to be. Very strange decision from the club.
Get JSOS or Kennedy in the guts and move Cuningham forward.
Or give Ed a tagging role
Our forward line was our weak link last night with the small forwards a glaring weakness.
Awful news.
the best thing about newman is that he's solid defensively as well as being good with the ball. will be a very useful player for a few years at least. he's not just keeping the seat warm for some upcoming youngsters.Newman is the direct replacement right now, and he played a verrrrry nice game last night.
Just wish Doc was there with him
Totally agree it was a putrid game from Charlie and I hope it's a one-off.I have to disagree. I know it's only 1 game, but from what I saw of him last night something is way out of kilter with him.
Was at home watching so did hear the commentary and was staggered to say the least .Yeah apparently this was the rhetoric on TV, at the game it was clear that Reiwoldt was clearing the path, he's a smart player.
There's no way he would have marked it if lynch didn't, it was already past him
You and everyone bar Phillip's mumNankervis is a very under rated player IMO
I prefer Kreuzer over Phillips
Affirmative, and so would anybody who heads out Richmond way on a regular basis. It's not exactly a secretSo you've seen this first hand then?
A hundred games of 12 -14 guys playing together is what does it. Its not leg speed at all.
Think his acting skills are better suited to neighbours or Home and away.Best of luck to him in his recovery. Think he will slot in very nicely into any media gig as he goes through rehab.
I’d like to make a few observations concerning the standard of umpiring last night. I’m not an umpire critic per se but it would be great to sit down with them and run through the tape to get an understanding of some of their inconsistent rulings and, what I’ll term, non decisions.
I’d have to watch the game back to be 100% certain concerning which quarter these incidents occur (as I tend to get really involved in the game).
First quarter. Balta marks around the centre. Thomas spoils. Umpire deems late contact and pays 50 metre penalty. Balta goals.
Third quarter. McGovern marks around half forward. Astbury is late. Misses the ball and hits Gov unfair in the noggin. No 50.
First quarter. Cripps is penalised for deliberately putting the ball over the line.
Same quarter. Rance is deep in defence and knocks the ball in a straight line from five metres over the boundary. No deliberate intent (bullshit). Throw the ball in.
Third quarter. And the non-decision that defies footy logic. Broad arches the back, makes a break for it and Big H (like a lion bringing down an antelope) lays a great tackle and brings Broad to the ground. Once he hits the deck he’s GAWN. Not according to the umpire involved.
Exactly! ! Footy players are actually human. Unless of course we're talking about Crippa and Walsh, then we're talking Beasts!Imagine thinking that Murphy isn't allowed to smile after his 250th after all he has done for the club and thinking it's an acceptable thing to say.
