Understand all of that, but I disagree with the approach. I know what I’m getting from the majority of these players. 4 1/2 wins. I want to see what the others have. Obviously not Richo.
So you want the players who will actually play and have a big influence over whether we win or not to go into the season underdone?
That makes no sense.

Coff has been off the boil all preseason. So just can't say to the other guys who have pushed for selection, sorry guys but he was pick 7 so he plays ahead of you.

Do we want selection integrity or not?

Clark, would seem to not be ready to play a full game in the middle, and as you say, he cant play elsewhere.

I would have thought that part of proper development was to teach them to work hard and earn their spot.

People suggesting they should play because of their pick number is ridiculous.
Why can't he ?

I want to see a player, who we haven’t seen before, play one out of the two pre season games. I want to see if they’re better than the McKenzie, Lonie, Dunstan, Newnes of the world. Currently, I wouldn’t know. I don’t know what best side is to beat GC, I can only guess.

What I am sure, we need to start building up some of the young kids to see if they’re going to make it, because the 22 from last year sure isn’t.

That’s why there is already 3 new players

OK so due to unexpected work commitment, I cant attend.

Don't have foxtel. Only telstra TV box to go with my mobile plan.

What are my options please?

Is there a pay per view option that gives me access to the game and replay?

Thanks in advance
Afl app has the game free for telstra customers

it's crazy how many people are already pissed off even though we won our JLTs and are favoured to win our first game tomorrow

This should be our peak excitement period, but people are finding negatives out of thin air.

Yeah Clarke should be playing, but the selectors know these players day in day out, they see everything. What do I know?

Yes but still have some in the best22 who I think aren't good enough for AFL such as lonie and Dunstan.
Hope they prove me wrong tomorrow....

I think you will find Long will push up the ground this year as his game time and fitnesses increases. I believe he has the tools to become our version of Kelly or Edwards given time. He played midfield as a junior and for the NT Thunder.

Billings will play the wing, but he is not Brad Hill or Isaac Smith, although he covers huge distances in games you wouldnt call him an elite runner able to break games open. He is not strong over head or on the ground and basically relies on other players to feed him the ball to use his kicking. Consequently I can never see him becoming an elite midfielder (wingman) or HFF for that matter. He is another flanker or pocket player the Saints recruited believing over night they will become midfielders, it rarely happens when they dont have the back ground playing in there.
Yeah gotta disagree on that IS. Billings doesn't need to be an elite runner to be effective on the wing half back. His decision making is improving all the time and I have been really impressed with his work in the preseason. He IS capable of releasing off the half back to players lace out in the corridor or providing that run into the 50 arc to receive. Of our middle tier players he has impressed me the most - excluding Newnes returning to form.

We will always have players we don’t think are good enough. It depends what good enough is. If it’s for a flag I’d go 8 to 10 players

I agree 100%. Smart risk management. I also look forward to your company in melting when teams are announced.
Add another 100%. Playing Bruce, Marshall, and Membrey isnt even playing 3 talls. It is 2. Members is 188 and one of the quickest in our team. When we have no Marshall, Paddy or Battle, that means it is only Bruce and Members, which realistically is like a kpf sized player and a half forward sized player. Send Bruce into the ruck and we only have Members there and will struggle to kick goals. I reckon this modern football equals a small forward line is absolute bullshit. Like Allan Jeans said, ruckmen hits to rover, rover kicks to forward. Forward kicks goal and repeat. Hasnt changed much.

Just on people saying we are going with only 2 tall forwards, you do realise Parker is taller than Membrey don't you, 191cms and takes pack marks.

Dunstan will get his 15 - 20 touches his opponent will run off him and hurts us the other way and he will be dropped 3- 5 times during the year

Parker, Lonie, Kent and Long all showed more during match sim at training and in the intraclub game.
Can't play them all.

I thought he was equal to Parker in the Intra, his pressure game is excellent, his run downs were outstanding. I thought either could have been getting a call up. He looks like he really enjoys playing too, always has a smile.

really?

Dal played 18 games in his first year, missed the first half of 03, then played nearly every single game after that.

There's something to be said for fast tracking young talent towards 50 and 100 games.

Brandon White rotting on 10 games despite showing a lot of promise.
Yeah I never understood why he was taken out of the ones given we were no where near ready to challenge and had considerable development happening with others at the time. I get we don't see everything on the training track but it was surprising.

Well it actually has. Membery plays as a tall. He isn’t a ground get player. Hardly any side plays 3 marking players and if they do one or two are usually very good footballers
