It’s always fun to go back and find a call made early on that proves you right.

Well in. :)
Thanks mate. I called the Hawks to be a dangerous outfit in 2018 before any mug on this board with my '' If Tom Mitchell and Cyril Rioli stay healthy '' thread . People mocked and ridiculed, but they don't know shit about football and Hawthorn;)

THEYve got the blue print for success. Clarkson is the Bill Bellicheck of the AFL ( New England Patriots head coach )

Awesome team. They're going to be around the mark for the next 5-10 years again contending for a flag.

Awesome club.

I missed this thread first time around... Glad to have missed some of the comments...

If you have the time, I recommend you have a look at the "Open Mike" interview with Russell Greene on youtube. It's from a few years ago but Greene gave a really good account of where this mental toughness comes from. He describes how when he came from a team like St Kilda they would have been happy to get a 1 point loss in a game, but that was never going to be good enough at the Hawks.

Something tells me this thread isn't sincere.
I'm not the OP, but even now, I believe what he posted early this year. And I'm a serious Cats fan. And The Patriots. And Federer.

you sound more than welcome in terms of levelling your temperament and equal does as equal says...

we are all dynamic and yet we are travelling somewhere else...

but you know it is all the Hawks mentality... they are just phenomenal.. at being relevant and stuck in the moment...

I’ve honestly got no idea why Richmond & Collingwood are considered ‘big 4’ when Hawthorn & Geelong have been clearly more dominant force since say, 1989 or earlier.

Essendon I understand with 3 flags and a dominant nineties period whereby finals and good sides were the norm. Carlton have been strong up until 2001, but not Richmond & Collingwood. I’d argue West Coast & Sydney slot into the other big 4 spots along with Hawthorn & Geelong.

Because ‘big 4’ is about powerhouse fan bases and the minute Hawks start sliding into a down era their fickle fans drop off the bandwagon by the thousands.

Geelong are Geelong. They have their own little universe.

Nah...you’re just lucky you’ve had a few good coaches.

Before the 1960s you were just this irrelevant speck of dust.

The years of losing and humiliation before the 1960's are not irrelevant to us. They are important to how our club built its culture.

Kanga came to our club and said never again, and never forget.

I am glad I didn't have to live through those years, but they are part of the "hard way" mythology of the club's history.

note: it is comical that you have to go back 7 decades to throw some shade.

Yes, that’s why Hawthorn broke their membership record in 2018 after missing finals in 2017*.

:drunk:

*And is the only club to have bettered their membership numbers every year for the last 11.

Sure, we were a speck of dust. But because of the likes of Kennedy, Jeans and Clarko our success has made clubs like Essendon and Carlton jealous. In turn Essendrug and the paper-bag blues became cheating scumbags.

Yep...JK turned your club around...much the same as RS Reynolds did and later sheedy.

Before hawfies start getting ahead of themselves and giving one another wristies ,all because somewhere along the line they decided to support the HFC(most likely for a fair majority only during a successful period) let’s just wait ummm , I don’t know more than one game to see if this result is truly surprising...

Adelaides b22 are one of the oldest teams put out there. All their best players are in their twilight and most had career seasons in 2017

The way I look at it it was the previous years top 4 team playing the 10 or so best team from last year with, surprise surprise the higher performing team winning

but yeah... heil hawthorn

I want to mop your tears up and guzzle them.

So proud of this club. Away from home, young players carrying the midfield, without the reigning Brownlow medalist, against one of the teams touted for the flag.

What. A. Win. Clarko is a genius.

I suspect some major backpedalling will happen here
