I was at the 7-Eleven a while aago when the Indian employee had just dealt with some young dickheads. I'm no longer young. As the Indian guy was telling me about the f'ark-heads, he said that he notices a huge difference in manners, general politeness, etc, etc, between different generations of his Aussie customers.

As someone who works in retail I can tell you it's just about the complete opposite. There is a huge sense of entitlement from customers aged 50 or over it seems. People in their early 20's or teens are far easier to create a light-hearted rapport with, they never heckle the price, and they never leave negative feedback or give us the 'can I speak to a manager?' bullshit.

Obviously these are all generalisations which doesn't help anybody. But no side can claim who is the right or wrong one in my opinion.

Yeah boomers are incredibly entitled and still subscribe to this 'the customer is always right' horseshit. This extends into the ignorance of the job market and cost of living. Ie they think people who work in retail have a passion for it or even care about it, so you can tee off at someone because that's their job. Or something.

Young people (under 20) are odd though, very quiet, very much afraid of conversation with someone even if it's rattling off a price. Queer.
