2nd half Dawson kicked goal, Graham looks good up forward, 55 ?? top up done some good things . Looks bloody hot out there
Big fan of Greenwool , any chance he get pick in mid season draft.

Half time - suns up by 50 - impressed by List - Sheer , Holman and Brodie, Crossely could have kicked a bag - top ups Greenwol and Beaman
Any word on how the guys went at full time? Who would you give votes to?

I was there for a look-see. I am not sure you can take much out of a game where one side wins by over 22 goals. I guess getting some practise with structures and set plays was the goal for the Suns. No idea why Palm Beach agree to it each year TBH.

As far as getting plenty of pill, Brodie, as always, got alot of it, but is still working on disposal and decision making (will frustrate like Shane Tuck did for us though). I think he will become a very good inside accumulator at the top level. May take some time.
Rankine as expected- a class above (albeit QAFL level oppo). Scheer was good too with disposal and decisions. Crossley looked dangerous on the lead up forward ( as usual nearly killed a player - Palm Beach's best mid). Sam Day was....... well Sam Day.

Nutting looked dangerous up forward - but has the blinkers on at times annoying team mates I would think.

Dawson really looking comfortable down back. I would think he will struggle for speed on the quick forwards, and not tall enough for 190+ players, but good reader of the play and great disposer. Has gone past Joyce imo (except Joyce has the speed!)

However, a training drill at best for all players, with no disrespect to Palmy. Palmy brought the heat in the 1st, but the weather heat and skill difference took its toll from the 2nd.

I would say Rankine probably wasn't playing cause of his hammy, did you mean King?

Very weird report to be honest , Rankine injured ,obviously you can't mix up .

OK.. never seen him up close and the player had his head strapped (I thought changed his jumper)and I thought players were calling him Ranks. But looking on the website, I can see 39 is Holman, so not sure where that nickname comes from. Did well.

Thanks for the report.

Disappointed the club didn’t put a match report up for us. Given there’s likely to be several changes the punters want to know who’s in the mix

From the club

SUNS 23.14 (152)
PBC 2.3 (15)

Sam Day played majority up forward. We'll have a full update from Nick Malceski this week :)

Not sure this kind of one sided game is good for any team, hard to prove anything and high risk of injury

Makes perfect sense to me.
Full match Sim, using only players likely to be available to the NEAFL side. you want to be doing match sim on the weekend this close to season to get the boys bodies into the training/game routine. Obviously cant play against the 1s due to them having a match!
Also keeps the 2nds players in the same exertion schedule as the ones players given both having a hit out at a similar time on the Sunday.
With 13 new players on the list the team that runs out for the Twos in game one of NEAFL is going to have a lot of guys that havent played together under match conditions... anything that gets them familiar is good.

Wouldn’t you be better off trying to organise a game against a more suitable team for match sim? I wouldn’t have thought you’d get too much out of thrashing a bunch of tradies

Perhaps it was the best we could do considering the timing and the fact that we would’ve wanted the game to be played on the coast? Maybe no other NEAFL team wanted to travel and Southport were unavailable for whatever reason.

Still good to have a hit out and have the players getting some game time playing together.

Southport played Aspley and Brisbane played Redland
