Who else has Jones as their favouraite player? May be 100lb dripping wet, but so courageous and skillful.

Noffy’s the favourite in this house, but Jones is pushing her case for the spot.

Watching the replay right now (just finished 1st quarter).
Thought yesterday's SANFL umpiring was bad, AFLW umpires: hold my beer..

Yep, absolute pocket rocket. Some of her contested marks are fantastic

Holy shite all this rubbish talk about the crowd number has turned this thread into a bloody dumpster fire ffs..

Get over it.. it was a fantastic crowd, great game and looked to be a great day for all those that managed to get there and see it live.. who gives a flying f..k if it was 40 or 50k.

Outstanding performance from the team. Just way too good for every other team.
I think we should also congratulate the club as a whole. We like to rip them for lots of different issues, but they have hit the AFLW introduction out of the park.

So much of that is done to someone who gets slagged off here a lot - Phil Harper. He wrote the submission to the AFL and lobbied with the NT to take us seriously and then we got it and he had to put together a team and coaching staff. I loved what Bec did in the first two years, but the decision to move on and change head coaches has proven to be an inspired one.

My one little downside with EJ is that she sometimes is a little lax in her defensive efforts. Sometimes. And a full four quarter consistency, but she's still quite young. But the amount of talent that girl has, one day it will fully click and she will tear a side a new one. She's so hard to match up on from a defensive viewpoint as you need a quick player, a strong player who can leap high and not many other sides have a Chelsea Randall in their team.

I don't understand why or how they were appointed. https://aflua.com.au/congratulations-to-our-aflw-members-appointed-to-the-grand-final/

Eleni didn't even umpire this weekend either - she was the emergency field umpire for the Geelong vs Melbourne game.

Eleni is on the main AFL umpiring list, so would not have been in contention at all. The AFLW umpires are all the ones trying to get on the AFL list (they are the "development" umpires) and it has long been a bug bear of mine about that decision. You need more experienced umpires when you have players who are new to the game.

When you have free matches with no reserved seating the crowd always looks smaller because you have a lot more people standing around the ground, because it's too hard to find a group of seats big enough to fit your group and people leave single seat gaps between their group and the group next to them that only get filled when someone wants to sit by themselves.

53k is very likely accurate as they need to keep accurate records for their fire safety.

Hey Port fans you could have had a women's team but your club thought it better to waste money on China instead of investing in the local community. Family club my ass.

They had people scanning everyone at the turnstiles as they entered the stadium

To be fair, they correctly identified that the depth of talent in women's footy in SA wasn't there.

Of course, we recognised the same thing, and instead of just giving up on the idea, we set about building a partnership with NT, luring quality players from interstate, and developing the best team culture in the AFLW.

That's why we have four times as many AFL premierships as they do :p

People are right to question it, I don’t see it as a shit fight just people judging a crowd from what they see and know. From what I experienced there was no way near the amount of people that was at the men’s Prelim final in 2017. It doesn’t take away from the great day that was today. Just perspectives and observations. Nothing wrong with questioning AFL dogma when warranted.

Speaking of people behind the scenes, after seeing Noffy’s interview with Bungy and the poised words he offered about expectations and hopes, I’d love to have been a fly on the wall to see those two together post game.
