Question you gotta ask yourself is, how many Port rookies are too many in one side?

They are all playing and scoring well so I dont think it matters most will be gone before the byes anyway. If I needed him I would bring in rozee to no stress.

Then he isnt kicking to a contest. He kicks are getting intercepted alot or going straight to the opposition.

They aren't mutually exclusive.

You can kick to a contest and still be intercepted/turned over.

True but if the ball spills and no one directly takes poessession of it they will still count the kick as effective.

Hard to break down exactly what his doing, either way, with his DE% and turnovers, we can probably both agree it isn't great at the moment.

His DE% was actually worse at half time, in the dry, it got better in the wet in the second half bizarrely.

The port backs were prob dropping the wet ball lol.

I did some advanced stats last night.

Was pretty clear the must haves are LDU and Drew. LDU has the 3rd lowest TOG% out of all rookies atm, and clearly the best points per minute. He's top 10 in the AFL in goal assists and score involvements, despite being a center square midfielder. Disposal efficiency elite for his role. If he converted more than his 1/5 shots on goal, hed probably be averaging 110+.

Drew looks like being the best tackler of the crop this year. Best JS of the entire crop with great TOG% numbers and solid disposal/DE% combo.

Id be looking at Cousins in lieu of Butters, Butters' average looks nice, but he's not going to go at 1.5 goals a game in the near future, Cousins is the same, but along with Drew, he's a good tackler. Butters DE% is pretty poor.

Bailey Scott another must have, despite the quiet week. His DE is 90+% in an advanced attacking role, which is #1 in the AFL for wingman.

Scrimshaw is another worthy of consideration, he's on fairly low TOG%, his disposal efficiency is good and he will probably up his disposal once he gets more comfortable.

Walsh was the big red flag. His disposal effeciency, turnovers etc are attrocious after the first 2 rounds. He's got great meters gained numbers, because he's bombing long all the time to contests which isn't good for supercoach. He's also completely outside at the moment with poor tackle numbers and the worst contested possession ratio of all rookies.
As long as Walsh averages 75, its more than reasonable.

And I'm not sure what you mean by low contested numbers, he had 13 on the weekend which was the second most for Carlton. Doesn't matter if it was "50%" rate, just by sheer weight of numbers means he'll score well averaging 11 a game.

You score points off contested possessions whether that turns into an effective disposal or not.

That's true .....but we'll also cash them i, once they've outlived their usefulniss ....so a short term problem, only if Port start getting thumped

You're confident on Scott - any feeling on why his week 2 was so bad and just a blip? Your description of advanced attacking role has me thinking small forward, avoid, to be honest regardless of his de%
Heard that he had a runny, smelly problem.

After trades this week, my rookies look like this:

Moore, Clark, Duursma (Scrimshaw, Hore)
Walsh, LDU (Constable, Scott, Atkins)
Drew, Parker (Setterfield, Balta)

Hore and Balta back in this week would be nice...

We're classing Moore as a rookie now?

Nah, I've got Wilkie instead of Moore, but I also have Cousins as well

We still don't have Butters or Rozee

I'm toying with taking one of them as well though (instead of Rockliff) - max the cash but be ready to have another crappy score this week....

Rookies in my team, pre trades, with $40k up my sleeve:

Collins, Clark (Burgess, Hore)
Walsh, Butters, Gibbons (Constable, Scott, Atkins)
Drew, Parker (Setterfield, Balta)

Any advice?

Re: Walsh, u realise long kicks to contests are effective disposals. If that happens to be a inside 50 as well that gets an extra point.
Was rank round 1 for 207k. Was interested in trading him out. Scored well last week though?

Scott. What a kent. Could have told us prior, would have benched him.
