I can't see why people like Austin. I feel like he is a complete liability. Doesn't defend well and makes terrible mistakes that often lead to goals. He reminds me of a first season MacKenzie, too many blunders. Only thing he does well is get cheap sideways kicks

Game day is sooo far away..............
Tell me about it. I was just at the gym watching last weekend's game for the 3rd time!
I was mostly watching Kent, Dunstan and some other guys I hadn't watched closely the first couple of times. Some people weren't happy with Kent's game. On this watch, I felt that he made some biggish blunders, but a lot of the small things he did showed a guy who's a smart and experienced footballer. Those 2 things combined with his mature physique and mentality are things that we missed badly last year. At this stage I'd have him as a lock, and let Long try to make up some ground on him and Lonie if he can (looks difficult atm). I was also watching Marshall's ruckwork. Yeah, he got beaten in the ruck mostly, but a couple of times where I thought he'd cost us in the ruck he actually was in good position for the hitout and got first hand to it but had no clear option below him to tap down to, and an Essendon player benefited. Anyway, I love having him in the team and hope he's fit for this week. Also on a 3rd watch...jeez some of those umpiring decisions were about on par with Essendon's performance. The blunders did go both ways, but I felt the ones against us were bigger mistakes.

I was Kent's biggest critic, I did say I thought he was much improved on his first week. I thought he was serviceable without being brilliant.

Be an excellent backman if he played on no one
He wasn't great against Essendon, dropped a lot of marks he should have taken. But I think he will be better for the run, he is capable of negating good forwards when he's playing well. He's very much necessary this weekend on Freo's talls.

Are you talking about Austin?

Im sure he will be happy to hear that.

I don't really think he'd give a flying **** what I think. I didn't send him a message, I commented on Bigfooty.

now that I know Kent's hands are on par with a young Franklin, I'm not as strong on him going back to sandy. If that's just one of his limitations then I accept it and will focus on the good things he does.

(I just watched the first goal from the weekend. He gets both his hands to the long kick from Parker and I dunno, it's like he doesn't know how to push them together to stop the ball.)

hence why his craft drills are 'if youre happy and you know it'

You missed ross kicking it to no one.

Longer will play VFL apparently.

I'd expect Pierce to go to Perth as an emergency and Marshall to play again.

Billy is never going to get huge stats, but if it were me picking the side I wouldn't pick him until he shows he can at least take a few marks around the ground. He averaged one mark a game last year.
Reckon we'd be eying off the Melbourne game for a possible return for him.

Wouldn't want Gawn giving his midfield an armchair ride like he did a couple of years ago against us, especially with centre clearances being so valuable under 6-6-6.

With Roma's excellent ability to apply pressure and tackle for someone his size, I'd be very happy to have both of them in the side, if they're both fit and in form.

Ro can take the ruckwork in the forwardline and Billy can sit in the hole a kick behind the play to attempt to mark the ball if they rebound it.

Kent is not a great overhead mark , but we new this when we got him , we got him because the guy is a great defensive forward who can kick goals and is a massive upgrade on Weller.
The team is settled after the first 2 games I doubt they will make any changes.
After Greshams first game a lot of people were saying why Gresham played so poorly , then he comes out in the second game and Reiwoldt calls him the best player in the team , so really lets give Kent a bit of time , he is the type of player we need in the forward line.

There is no correlation at all this year between hits outs wins and clearances. We won the last time we played Melbourne in spite of billy. I can’t believe people are happy to change a forward set up just to play a guy who only real asset is to hit the ball and get in the way

And max rucked against Stanley last week who is similar to Marshall. How did the 6 6 6 rule work in that game?

Worth noting that he hasn't gotten a vote in the coaches awards so far.
Billings as we know picked up a lot of touches and he is becoming the outside run we have been dreaming of , however last week the thing that they would of noticed would of been his disposal efficiency at 67.9% the week before it was in the 80s , but the thing I liked about his game is not the amount of touches he had but he has increased his contested possessions 8 this week and 7 the week before.
Just hope he keeps up the form because it will be massive if he does , his confidence will go through the roof and we will benefit from it.
