Sad but true, and now that our team is really gathering depth it’s going to be harder than ever to get a spot and keep it.

Wilkie comes in, plays like an experienced player from day 1 and it just pushes others back.

Like all elite sport, it is survival of the fittest. Hard as it is for the players, and sad if they don’t make it, we have to be rapt that our team is in this position in most (not all, yet ) areas of the ground.

White could be one of those llayers who goes up a level when promoted. Looked pretty comfortable everytime he played seniors. Cant be any worse than mackenzie. Same defensive attributes. Taller cleaner better mark. Can kick the footy.

Might well be better playing with better players but if you have little to no composure in a VFL practice match and are beaten time after time by a good state league player then not sure how you step up. Not to mention the obvious ongoing issue of having no aerobic capacity.

MCKenzie finished top ten in the best and fairest he is miles ahead of White.

He was no better than white at the same stage.

Another shank off the side of his boot on the weekend (immediately after he'd just made another mistake), but his kicking has definitely improved as he's grown in confidence, and was the best I'd ever seen it the week before.

He wouldn't want to see a lowlights reel of his worst kicks at both levels though, that's fo sho! It would be cringeworthy stuff.

Have felt like he hasn't gotten back to his form from late last year yet, but that's to be expected given his lack of games leading into the season. Has been the same for Stuv and now Acres as well and even Brown made a bunch of mistakes on the weekend in his first game in a few weeks.

No he isn't, White so far has been a huge disappointment, twice he has come to pre season underdone and is obviously not fit enough for AFL seniors.

Even with multiple backline injuries the selectors selected a guy who has played the game for 2 years and has had two games of AFL footy.

White is a long way back and nowhere near Joyce or even Wilkie let alone DMAC.

Once Marsh and Rowe are fit, he will be behind them as well.

DMAC has taken his chances. Maybe White should work a bit harder.

The times I have seem him training, he lagged in the repeat sprints, and was totally non de script in match sim.

People have there favorites , however we have to respect who they select in the side , DMac is most probably in the side because he had a very good preseason even winning the team time trial and showing more in match sim.

And apart from the last qtr v Suns extremely good in the contest both in the air and ground. Don’t get the constant bashing at all.

As far as I'm concerned our first ruck is set in stone and until Billy can bang the door down in the VFL he shouldn't get a look in.

The thing that Marshall does is that we can sit him a kick behind or in front of play and he provides a genuine intercept or marking target. We ruck Bruce in the forward line and Marshall sits back and impacts the next kick if it is cleared. He is also a good get-out option from defence (anyone notice how much easier we moved the ball out of defence last week?).

Until Billy can impact play by marking the ball he should not be near the side in my opinion.

now that I know Kent's hands are on par with a young Franklin, I'm not as strong on him going back to sandy. If that's just one of his limitations then I accept it and will focus on the good things he does.

(I just watched the first goal from the weekend. He gets both his hands to the long kick from Parker and I dunno, it's like he doesn't know how to push them together to stop the ball.)

Ha ha I saw that. On the replay I think what he was trying to do was that he spotted the target out the corner of his eye at the last minute and tried an “outside of the boot” job and fluffed it completely. He’s also a guy that’s lacked composure (a lot) and that’s improved immeasurably. I think he’ll be a far better player in a couple of years as he gets more comfortable. He already has a lot going for him.

That's an interesting conspiracy theory but I think it's more likely that Roos was taking inspiration from Mick Malthouse's hit piece from The Sunday Times
