I think people are overrating how important Stuv has been so far this year. He's always good but he practically carried our midfield last year, this year in comparison he's playing as a bit part forward who pinch hits in the middle until he rebuilds the fitness he lost over the last few weeks of preseason. So far this year we haven't had Stuv as we've come to expect at all anyway.

It’s pretty simple really. If jack doesn’t play round one we lose. Yes there would have been someone replacing him but extremely doubtful they would have close to how well he played. We can spin it all we like but it’s a big loss. Freo now don’t have to worry about our best player

According to Roo, Gresh is our best player :)

True, but I suspect most would have thought he was likely to be more ready to return to a more permanent midfield role this week, and as such that not happening, on top of losing him altogether, takes away one of the things we thought we would have really going for us.

Could it be that Richo is looking at the big picture this season. A refreshed Stuv may return later in the season when make the run for the finals.
If he isnt at this stage of the year, he should be sacked.

We are 2-0 and while our list looks bottom eight on paper, we should be aiming for finals currently.

If they do make it, then the list ,'on paper' looks a whole lot better.

Adversity brings opportunity.

Most of us had this game pencilled as a loss one month ago.

They have rested Darcy so Lobb will spend time in the ruck.

actually makes the match up a bit more like for like, although i think if darcy played we would have had more run. marshall would have murdered him around the ground!

Load management in round 3 is a load of crap but that’s modern sport. I think we’ll see Long in for Steven because going by his stats he’s been playing a lot of forward and we need speed. Maybe even Clark for Dunstan because these big grounds just don’t suit him.
Not really though. The thing that Steven was lacking was match fitness, not general fitness. I dont doubt that after 2 AFL games with underpreperation that he is sore as hell.

You do know debut means first game ect , not first game in each state , anyway i think if we are banking on Patton our depth is no where near as strong as some have suggested , he tries for sure but is he going to be a regular i would say no IMO

If we must...

The clinical definition is a persons first in a capacity or a first public performance.

Be it first performance, first dance, first attempt to shit gold, it is a debut to do such things.

Ergo, a bloke traveling interstate to potentially play, is a debut in that state, as it is their first time in their capacity as an AFL footballer to play outside of the state of Victoria.

This is what is known as English words having multiple inferences, such as being a verb and a noun.

I dont know if this has been posted already - but given his issues just before seasons start he has done a ripping job playing 2 matches - maybe he doesnt feel that keen or the club feels maybe they dont want to push the issue with a 3 day interstate trip - he can have another mini break to keep fresh physically and mentally
