I reckon a reasonable percentage of people in Australia think Sikhs are Muslims.

Most Muslim men in Australia don't really stand out physically. It's the women in burqas/hijabs/niqabs etc. that do.

If we're doing subtle racist Sikh things then if I see a Sikh dude walking around my immediate stereotyping will be:
- has a taxi
- holds hands with other men (no homo)
- plays hockey

My mum is religious and probably one of the best humans I've ever met. And I'm not just saying that because she's my mum. Everybody who has met her would agree.

When I came out to her she changed her perception of gay people and what her religion told her about gay people and fully embraced me and my partner.

This is what separates her from the likes of religious people like Shelton, who push their beliefs, regardless of any human element.

Potayto potarto I reckon. Being dumb/ignorant doesn't necessarily make you a bad person. I've got more time for a likeable simpleton than a knowledgeable arseh*le.

Being mean spirited and intelligent is probably the worst combination. I don't understand why people such as Christians spend so much energy on things that don't really affect them and impact others negatively. You think abortion is murder? Don't have an abortion. You think gay marriage is wrong? Don't marry a gay person. I actually don't care if people are pro-life or think homosexuality is unnatural or whatever, that's their prerogative. But it baffles me why people can't just adopt a 'you do you' approach. I mean I think Christians are mentally ill but I don't spend my Sunday mornings picketing outside the nearest church, **** that. What a terrible way to spend a hangover.

It probably comes down to their belief that it is their job to rescue sinners from hell. Not all Christians believe that but the more outspoken fundamentalist ones do.
