Not for the first time this season I'm shocked by the odds.

I expect a narrow port win, but for us to be 1.34 against a flag favourite with both sides missing players and having players out of form feels seriously strange

Noticed it's @1.29 now.

We where @1.55 before Dusty was suspended.
A good Port side should bury Richmond this week. There's no excuses.

Mayes for Gray to a wing, Motlop high half forward.
Trengove if Rocky isn’t right.
I’d like Marshall back in but he went out on form and probably didn’t do what he needed to go back in. I probably wouldn’t have dropped him but once you do, you really want him to show a reason to come back in.

I loved Polec. Some excitement and flair gives me good vibes.

If you want defensive minded medium sized defenders like Houston, I reckon Garner is another one like that.

If Bonner keeps his spot in defence as a poor defender then why was Marshall dropped so quickly? At the Carlton game he did drop a few marks but it was a wet night and he wasn’t our worst, has far more presence than S Gray, and to me always looks strangely dangerous. I was surprised he was dropped at a whim. What now, he wallows in the seconds?

You've revised your requirement of a handful down to 3 or more, but okay:

Marshall has 1 bag of 5 and 2 bags of 3 from 2017, when were a good side and finished 2nd on the ladder. The bag of 5 saw him elevated to the senior side. Other than that, it's 1s and 2s, and he's got a heap of games where he doesn't score any goals.

Frampton has 1 bag of 3 in his career (also from 2017), and has significantly more goalless games than games where he has scored a goal.

The Ken Farmer Medallist in 2018 scored 42 goals at just 2 goals a game for the team that won the flag. This is not a league where lots of goals are scored, and we're a bad team in it. The sort of consistent delivery that will let him get into his stride and building form isn't going to come at SANFL level. I'm not sure how else to get this through to you. All that happens for Marshall in the SANFL is that he tries to get on the end of scrappy kicks in a forward 50 flooded with defenders in a team that will lose more than it wins. Some weeks he might have some luck, other weeks he'll barely get a touch. Meanwhile our AFL side is crying out for a key forward.

It's almost like we could kill two birds with one stone.

I used the term as an expression not literally 5 or more.

It doesn’t surprise me Frampton has only kicked 3 one as he has largely played as the number 1 ruck not a permanent forward.

So for a league where You can’t kick bags, 3 twice and 5 once is a pretty good given the amount of time Marshall played there, it shows he has the capacity to do it. Something i'm sure the coaches wanted to see him replicate. They dont want an Ablett Sr or Dunstall like performace from him in the two, we want to see he is a cut above.

Marshall has more talent than all those other key forwards in the SANFL. There is a reason he is on an AFL list and they aren't. His problem isn’t scrappy kicks coming to him.

I mean I get it, we should win.

But we are playing the best side of the competition for the last two years. If they didn't shit the bed against the maggies they would be on track for a 3peat right now. I expected 1.70 or similar

i'd love to see broadbent back in but i just hope it doesn't end up going like the time we brought Monfries back in for one last shot in 2017.

Ken basically intimated on SEN this morning that we’ll be unchanged. So 7 touches playing the hardest position in the game in wet and blustery conditions is enough to get you the boot, but 10 nothing touches playing as a small forward retains your spot. Cool

I want Marshall (or Frampton) in the team, and Spray off our list, but this is classic Ken, especially with Marshall doing nothing in the SANFL last round.

Hold on - Dusty appealing his sentence - who would mark him?

Surely only challenging severity of grading to get 2 down to 1?

FFS if Spray stays in and a guy who can actually do something in a similar role like Farrell does not come in I am gonna straight up melt hardery and fasteri-er than ever.

I was going to post about the similarities I see between the reaction of some to Todd Marshall's situation and that of a former key forward but I won't as this thread should be about the future not the past.

I have no problem with Todd being overlooked as his form was not great and I don't think anyone should draw parallels between a tall forward and a smaller defender. I didn't see last week's SANFL game but I have not noted anyone who did getting carried away with Todd's performance so maybe he stays where he is for a few weeks. I would probably be more concerned if Todd were dropped then reinstated on the back of a middling performance in the SANFL as I think that sends the wrong message.

Our AFL side is crying out for Charlie Dixon.

Todd Marshall isn’t going to do shit in his current form. And no one expects him to kick bags of goals. They just expect him to chase, put pressure on and lead up the ground and present a target.

Our team will lose more than it wins in the SANFL while players don’t play their roles. And your idea is to reward them for that.
