https://www.newstatesman.com/blogs/media/2012/09/legal-mythology-extradition-julian-assange

This is a 2012 article about the allegations from Sweden and discussion around possible US extradition.
Statute of Limitations expires August 2020 (10 years).

David Allen Green is a credible legal commentator, nut. That article makes no inference of guilt or innocence.
Not really credible at all:

Julian Assange, 47, (03.07.71) has today, Thursday 11 April, been further arrested on behalf of the United States authorities, at 10:53hrs after his arrival at a central London police station. This is an extradition warrant under Section 73 of the Extradition Act. He will appear in custody at Westminster Magistrates' Court as soon as possible.

Have a meltdown. Excellent outcome. Unfortunately about 6 years overdue though. Not everyone subscribes to your warped view of the world.
Why is this a good outcome? He'll be extradited to the US where they'll probably torture and kill him.

.... and CNN TOLD You that?
That’s a cheap response; everyone who doesn’t agree is a sheep. But as much as I admired his early work, there is a legitimate argument to be made that in the past seven years he had become a partisan, selective leaker who has drawn comfort from countries far more draconian than the US.

That said, the US extradition request is bullshit and should be fought at every level.

Why? Because you believe all the talking heads in US media who call him a "traitor" and want him jailed for life?

He's going to be extradited to the US. Just you watch.
Because what he exposed was very little in the grand scheme of things. They were never major game changing revelations. They were only very minor abuses of power when looking at society from a world and historical perspective. Those who think they were major are stuck in a modern western bubble with little understanding of where the world has been and where it could go. And when fighting for his own personal safety he has turned to a far more authoritarian regime them the one he tried to expose. He is one of the worlds biggest hypocrites. And based on stories from people I know who were at one point close to him in the past he was incredibly juvenile and selfish. One of the last people you would ever follow.

I have very little time for Assange. Don't like him at all.

But his being arrested over the 2010 charges in the USA is very concerning. They had no choice but to arrest him for skipping bail, but they've arrested him with a view to extraditing him to the USA. Anyone who has any concern for the freedom of the press to reveal information in the public interest should be very worried about this and the implications it has for a free international press.

Unfortunately staying in someone else's house always comes with the need to obey their house rules.

Should had fled to a non-Allied country 9 years ago.

He will get extradited to the USA but will die in custody of Suicide. No way the yanks will let him survive .

The Corporate Left: "WE GOT HIM!"

Very sad. A hero who has led a horrible life trying to bring us the truth. Now back to the Kardashians - Kim just brought new sweat pants.

I don’t think it will be that clear cut. The world’s media is already lining up to defend his right to publish, immense pressure will be exerted on the UK not to extradite him or the US to abandon the extradition. If he dies, America loses the PR war.

EDIT: The charges have just been announced, the US want to charge him with conspiracy to access a classified file, maximum penalty five years. Not publishing or disseminating the information, no death penalty. They are looking to make a statement, grandstanding basically.

You fools who thought this was about Swedish rape charges were played. Hilarious.
Hilarious is too weak a word.

Anyone who seriously thinks UK authorities would mount a surveillance and security operation for seven years, an op that cost millions, over a man skipping bail (and over a dropped investigation in Sweden) is either delusional or dishonest.

It was obvious all along, but there were still plenty who believed it was all to do with rape allegations.

It is hilarious because routinely you find in life intelligent people are just as credulous as the dumbest, but worse in that they think themselves immune.

I’m saying if he does he won’t live they will kill him off .
