Player Watch #5: Brandon Ellis - off to GC pick 39 as compo

Best game I can remember him playing in the last 2 years.

I’m still not convinced but credit where it’s due, looked more composed today

That's been his biggest problem in the last 18 months. Has looked like he isn't sure if he belongs at the level any more. Tonight he started poorly but was really good after qtr time. I'd like to see him look as assured when we have everybody back. He has the attributes to make it.... just mental with him I guess.

well i was at the game and was able to watch not only his effort on the ball but around it and i think you'd have to be on a different planet to think he wasn't BOG. ****ing awesome game. i seen him attack the pack so many times or atleast try.

everything he’s getting potted for in here he, i won’t say fixed, but largely eradicated from his game in 2017, and had his best season since probably 2014, which is still his peak

so he can do it, but he reverts back to type all too often and it takes him years to get back up and going again. how many chances does he get? hard to turn back the clock to recapture form from half a decade ago

When he doesnt panic , i wanted him gone for good last week , he was fantastic last night.

Jack Ross is a better midfeild option than Bllis.

Ditto Sydney Stack in the backline.

Im stoked for Ellis and the RFC he had a good game but he isnt in the best side minus Rance

I think he was in our best, blew up Fatlop and got to so many contests to provide an option. Maybe thats the thing. He can get to more situations than 80% of players but when he has to impact a defensive situation his natural deficiencies, using his body and aggression it sticks out like dogs balls, but getting somewhere to provide an option in nuetral territory or more forward, he can kick on both feet with good carry, good set shot under pressure and probably gets within earshot of more teammates than most to get vocal or share a message.
Whether it was the shape of the ground or if it was he played a bit differently and decided to be more attacking, whatever...
I hope we see more of that stuff, the club has made a big investment over the years in him and it would be good to get some more return.
