Autopsy Round 5 2019 Swans Vs Tigers

Today's fun fact:

The teams who have beaten us are ranked 11th, 13th, 14th, 16th on the ladder

Losing to teams above you on the ladder is ok though.

We had 464 disposals to 388, that says it all really. Just overused the ball far too much.

Interpretation of our results is subjective.
Whilst some would be disappointed in tonight’s game, in other news, our play for the #1 draft pick is going excellently.
That’s it! Glass half full approach. I like it!

Why? we arent doing anything this year 250 games he deserves to go out in style.
There's no room for sentimentality in this game. Jack has struggled since 2016 (much like Hanners) and won't be on the list next year. Jack has been better this year but I'd prefer to see a younger player getting a game.

We’ve been really lucky there are teams ****ing up worse than us every round. The pressure should be a lot higher than what it actually this. Thank you Brad Scott/Simon Goodwin.

Matt Rowell would be a very nice addition

Won stoppage clearances 24-12
Lost centre clearances 8-17
Won total clearances 32-29

With Parker and Kennedy in there they are way too slow.
Still good at stoppage where strength is advantage and can clog it up.
Need to get Florent in the middle - will get beaten at times but he has the pace and the skills and the strength and experience will come.
I reckon 1 only of Kennedy, Parker and Hewett and 2 of Jones, Papley, Florent, Heeney and even Buddy (+ Hayward when he gets back)

As well as Brendan Bolton and whoever coaches Adelaide.
For my post I was talking this week. Week before was those two and Round 1/2 was the Worsfold pressure cooker.

Overall my point is there’s been sexier failures so Longmire can slide under the radar.

- It's not like anything unexpected happened, it's just really disappointing to me that we're seemingly not trying anything to dig ourselves out of this hole...not even minor tweaks here and there. They were seriously undermanned and we didn't even try and ask the question of them.....but knew that was going to be the case going into the game, so game went pretty much exactly as I thought it would.

- Very disillusioned with the way we play. Chip, chip....so awful to watch...If we were having a real ****ing go and moving the ball with some intent and purpose then I could cop 1-4. Players look confused to me, the hesitation after almost every mark reeks of doubt in what their doing. When we fall massively behind and are pretty much forced to make quick decisions and be more direct we look more natural and fluent.

- Keep getting smashed out of the middle. 17 -8 centre clearances. That doesn't help....anyone...... but at the same time we don't even look like we're trying to find a solution. Cameron is going to dominate the reserves every week, he's not going to learn anything playing down there and we're not going to learn anything about him. He might give us a slightly better contests in there and if he doesn't can't be much worse than what we're getting anyway. He's one of a about 2-3 players we on the list who we just need to find out whether they've got it or not....it's not like what we're doing is working anyway.

- Florent was impressive again (despite some bad kicks) and Dawson was good (even before he started getting some soft ball as the loose man). Thurlow and Clarke were better.
- Cunningham fluffed a fair few tonight but at least he's one who will run with the ball and kick the thing 30m+ (you know move the ball with some purpose, instead of constant 15m nothing chip passes), usually one of better users as well.
- Jones had a bit of a mare, but at least doesn't drop his head and kept running and carrying. Too many go into their shells immediately after a mistake.
- Rampe did well considering how much the ball was coming down there.
- Hewett falls over far to much when going for the ball, could make a deadly drinking out of it. Needs to start keeping his feet. Really thought he'd be a good inside mid, looks like a guy who's just had all the confidence sucked out of him. Remember him having some decent skills earlier on, but they've too completely abandoned him. Not sure if it's a result of playing the negating role for too long now or what.

Can't even do that right as I think we are heading for a pick 3 or 4.

Agree.

We should deliberately tank.

We would **** it up and finish top 4

Pretty good post but I disagree re Dawson. He was sensational, not soft!

List issues are clear in my mind, experienced players are looking past it a little apart from bud and still a lot of young/less experienced players finding their feet/their role. Seems to be a lack of 80-150 game players or players in that 24-28 bracket that are at their peak. Could be wrong but that’s the way I’m seeing it at the moment.

Ive got my eyes on Anderson as he seems to be the best midfielder based on current reviews. It's likely to change by seasons end of course.
