I reckon Morris is on the money , it's not bagging us , but telling it how it is.
He’s probably been reading the ‘see ya later Longmire’ comments on here and agreed with our views.

That's no good. I love watching on telly B52 but you can't see what the players who aren't around the contest are doing. It also helps one appreciate players that perhaps aren't going as hard at it & those that are. The Bombers for example, were just left alone to take the corridor & switch play across the ground with kicks going 40 meters or greater which suggests to me that North were so far behind their direct opponents showing them a lack of respect & hoping that the Bombers would miss their targets for their turnovers. It didn't happen as there was no pressure whatsoever. North are the worst team in the AFL thus far. I also saw them live against the Hawks a few weeks ago. Same, same. Made the Hawks look like potential premiers.
The Bombers were made to look better than they actually are.
When on song, we are a much more accountable team than this, though at present we are a fair way off doing it for the required 4 quarters.

You just can't see how hard a team works defensively on TV.

Agree. But it is both offensive and defensive and the whole patterns of play that you get at the game and you miss on the telly. I have at times watched at the fence and up in the stands. Each gives a unique perspective. I think I have probably watched 1,000+ games live (I am ancient). Live is obviously best. I am more intuitive but crazed on the fence but more objective but still crazed up in the stands.

Watching the near unwatchable game of Dopers v soon to be relocateds I was struck at how stagnant the Norfies were. In terms of one or two way run, they were stuck in cement, going neither forward nor back. Expect this would have been clearer at the game.

They had no idea what to do or where to stand in space. Polec must be wondering what he has done.

Both Maher and Cooney did not hold back against Sydney just now on SEN. Labelling the Swans the most boring team to watch at the moment, and that the team goes sideway too much, and the entries to the 50 were disgraceful. And that Reid is an irrevelant player.

It is hard to disagree with any of that, and it is about time Longmire's gameplan is questioned by the football media. I think our team is better than the results indicate, and with a better coach we would have won at least 3 games this season.

Are we going to start listening to the people that have spent most of their media careers bagging the shit out of our club?
They love nothing more than to stick the boot in... not surprising that they are enjoying sticking the boot in when we are playing poorly.

I don't think I have ever really heard either Maher or Cooney talk about the Swans in depth before. I certainly never got an impression of bias on their parts against us.

Not true of Maher or Cooney. Maher in particular has long been an admirer. Of course they have to call it as they see it. They are correct to point to the chippetty chippetty chip, sideways and backwards movement. The chippetty tactic is the signature Horse tactic.

Bob Skliton could criticise the club and we would be told he was a Port Melbourne boy at heart

So of the text you quoted what is wrong.

How many of them called out the AFL with the Buddy trade?
Or the trade ban?
Or the 2016 GF umpiring?
Or the Goodes boo-ing?

But they all had a week long vigil when Bob did his knee.

It is only the beginning, watch them crawl out from under their rocks to lay the boot in.

YOu seem to be mistaking general apathy with dislike.

I thought it was clear.
The Vic media has no credibility, they don't suddenly get credibility because we are losing and playing badly.
Just the other night 'they' discussed how EVERY team is doing the chippety chippety sideways and backwards.
The insinuation that we are the only team doing it is absolute nonsense.
The insinuation that it is the root cause of our problems is superficial garbage.

This is just a bit unbalanced. The Buddy trade penalties imposed by the AFL were criticised by many media types...tho not by those with vested interest like McGuire. The 2016 umpiring was criticised and the Goodes booing was definitely called out by much of the media in Melbourne. SEN was flooded with bogan red necked callers complaining they would not be told how to behave by the media or the AFL.

The Vic AFL media haven't got a single independent thought between the lot of them. They have demonstrated so, time after time after time.
They don't have independent thoughts because they're scared of biting the hand that feeds them.

You think people like Robbo and Barrett hold the positions they do because they're good journalists?

You don't need to create straw men to make your point.
The Vic AFL media have shown over many years and many incidents that their primary objective is to shit-can my club.
If you are now willing to pretend none of it happened because they are saying what you want to hear, that's up to you.

Unfortunately N37, you take your argument to extreme and absurd levels. It is this sort of nonsense that is parodied when peddled by Doper and Pie fans.
