On current form, Cripps, Walsh, McKay, Curnow, Weitering and SPS are worth two first round picks, one being a top 5 pick.

Re Pickett, I think it's all about how he approaches his rehab. Only need to look at Docherty at the moment. Extremely fit. No more excuses especially with Russell guiding him. If he trains hard, looks after himself and shows he will do what it takes I would give him another year. If he doesn't, see ya

I’m thinking if Adelaide just miss the finals Caleb Serong could be a good fit around that point. If they bomb out completely and we end up with pick 5/6, someone like Sam Flanders could be on the cards.

Alternatively if Adelaide do bomb the year, I’d also be happy to grab a running half back to replace Simpson (or supersede Newman) in which case Lachlan Ash would be very handy.

Cant see us using adelaides 1st this year in the draft unless its a top 5 pick. I think thats why we were happy to trade with them "hoping" they would net us a pick 6-12.

I suspect its going straight on the trade table.

Ed Langdon is (and has been on my radar for a long while) the guy i hope we get as the outside mid. He doesnt really come with a goal scoring side, but he is quick, silky, clever and racks the up. 32 possessions against the giants at 91% de just sounds good to me.

Definitely lacking in a goal kicking mid so thats why ive been on the Billings bandwagon a while.

And who could say no to Coniglio as a FA.

They are the 3 im keen on. Think Kruezer can finally hold it together with Russell now on board (well i hope)

A bit left field, but what about Billy Hartung?
24, Quick, great endurance (holds AFL beep test record of 16.6), good on both sides, loves a goal (once kicked 20 goals straight in a game (albeit U/14, but still a fair achievement)).
Played 63 games over 4 seasons at Hawthorn. (20,18,18 in last 3 seasons)
Was really stiff to get cut by North. Played the first 13 games last year then got injured, couldn’t get back in (Trent Dumont took position), got cut because he was uncontracted and they needed to cut another player to comply with delisting quota.

I know he’s not fashionable, but he played a ton of senior footy really for a nobody, and for a very strong Hawthorn outfit. He averaged 18 disposals a game over his career (over 20 for 2 of those years at Hawthorn). The numbers just don’t add up. Worth half a season of trial to see if he can carve a spot as a small forward?

He's currently playing Premier B in the VAFA so the AFL dream may have passed him by.

Lachie Whitfield, Brad Crouch, Jack Viney are slated to become Free Agents next year.

Given the trend of trading them a year earlier to maximise return, it wouldn’t surprise me if one these players was a target for Adelaide’s pick.

Agreed that any of the bolded would demand at least a top 3 pick. Certainly in Cripps' case you'd be talking two Firsts plus, because 24yo best-handful-of-players-in-the-league are not really tradeable.

Eg. If in some parallel universe there was a sniff of getting Bont from the Dogs, I'd happily give all our picks for the year plus next year's first. I'm sure other clubs would feel that way about Cripps.

Still really optimistic on Dow and Setters and they players they can become, but right now today they do not have that top top currency.

I'm a big fan on Pickett he possess traits that certainly could break a game open with speed and Xfactor provided his injury doesn't give him any ongoing trouble, I'm very confident Russell can build him up for the back half of the season, if he can get his s**t together he can tear it up down forward with Harry Charlie Mitch Cunners[emoji1786]

If I was the GM of List Management, these are the targets I would be heavily pursuing during the trade period in order of preference:

• Josh Kelly – Goes without saying, he’s an absolute Rolls Royce who would walk into any starting midfield and instantly make it better. Would cost us Adelaide’s first pick (projected to be around Pick #8) and our 2020 first pick at a minimum.

• Steve Coniglio – See above, the added bonus is that he’s a Free Agent so there may be a slight trade discount on offer if you can blow GWS’s budget out of the market with a monster front loaded offer. Would happily pay Adelaide’s first pick if GWS did find a way to match our offer financially.

• Lachie Whitfield – I have a feeling that we are grooming Liam Stocker to become a half back flank that rolls through the midfield, if my instincts are correct, we’ll need a midfielder that can swap out with him in game so that we total coverage when it comes to run, carry and sublime disposal off HBF. The best part about this plot is that Stocker and Whitfield are different types of players off HBF and in the middle so it also adds a bit of versatility. He’s a free agent at the end of next year; so GWS may be inclined to let him go a year earlier in order to maximise their return. I’d happy pay Adelaide’s first pick (and some change).

• Jack Viney – One from left field and may be a bit of a long shot but I don’t think he would be all too happy with what’s taking place at the Demons currently. Even though there’s a family connection with the club, if we came in with a bigger financial offer than Melbourne (who you would imagine would have a tighter cap given all of their bigger signings as of late) and also coupled with the fact that he’s in a similar boat to Whitfield in that he’s a free agent in 2020 and the Dee’s may want to maximise their return. He’s 25 years old, quick, tenacious, leadership qualities – just what the doctor ordered for our inexperienced midfield. Would pay Adelaide’s first round pick.

Very happy we didn't pursue Wallis, he's very very one paced and has below average disposal. Perusing the dog's board and he's one of the first they'd drop by the look of it.

Oh and thank **** we didn't go anywhere near Liba, that little turd is easily the most unlikeable player in football. On field is a flopping antagonistic little prick that Mathieson (Brisbane) could only aspire to become.

I love Libba. Plays with mongral. The fact you hate him means you would love him in our colors. Talent for days

Great post. The only thing I would question is the bit about Shiel. We offered him more than anyone else. Maybe we would’ve sold the farm if he wanted us and clearly no other list manger was going to because no one offered anymore than we did.

I also don’t think SOS has some sort of unwavering plan. That’s just crazy in an industry and role where things are constantly changing.

Yep absolutely I was just disagreeing that SOS wasn’t willing to go all out and get Shiel where other clubs would. It was actually if anything the opposite.

The other thing I actually disagree with is that when rebuilding you build your KPP’s first (particularly tall forwards). Sure that may be ideal but is also not realistic a lot of the time. We took the 1st,4th and 5th KPP’s in 2015 and it worked out a treat. If the 2016 draft class was actually the 2015 draft class than even if we took the 1st, 2nd and 3rd highest taken KPP’s we would’ve ended up with Logue, Marshall and McLarty.

Honestly think only Cripps, Walsh and Charlie would definitely fetch that. McKay is approaching that level and a few clubs may already take the punt, but I'd be surprised.

Weiters might also, but probably only if it was a weaker draft or the team were in a strong need for a young back. He wouldn't have fetched that in last year's draft for instance.

The others are no chance, realistically a top 3 draft pick will only go for an established star (Cripps), a prospect to get fans through the gate (Charlie) or an outlier situation (Weller).

McKay not be a top 3 in this draft? He'd certainly be a top three.....Certainly.
Petrevski-Seton would likely be for the right club, as would Weitering now.

The problem often is though, that the clubs that would happily hand those sorts of picks over, aren't in the position to be able to do so, unless they can somehow trade/buy themselves into the market.
