I would say that nationalist parties often resort to to demonisation of the other, violence et cetera, but the ideal of nationalism is a strong unified nation as a guarantor of defence and wealth and freedom of the people which isn’t irrational to me. Globalisation just seems like it would make it way too easy for tyrants to assume control over the whole earth.
