Well Geary, JB, Jill and Seb Ross all agree so if the captain, vice captain and 2 senior players say so I'm inclined to believe it :)
Got a link?

Thought Dave was the coaches favourite, or was that Dunny.

He has so many favourites nowdays. Funny they can't get a game.

Richo sounds a bit fickle if you ask me. You wouldn't want to be a favourite, you will end up languishing in the reserves by the looks of it.

I hear Kent is Ratts favourite.

Yes and likely more effective but McKenzie couldn't hit the side of a barn if his nose was squished against it.

I don't really see how that's relevant though, considering the comment was about kicking to contests being counted as effective disposals.
Stats say otherwise, I think your opinion is based on nothing.

Billings has a 70 % disposal rate. He never kicks to a contest?

I gave the podcast on the saints website a listen when I found it.
The episode with Seb Ross: https://player.whooshkaa.com/player/playlist/id/143?sharing=true&episode=359375
Near the start they talk about coaches pets, the names that came up were Geary, McKenzie and Gresham; I think Geary and Gresh were the "most" coaches pet iirc but McKenzie wasn't far behind from the way they described it.

No I'm saying (and I don't think is contentious at all) that Billings' kicking is pretty explicitly better and more damaging than McKenzie's despite Dmac having a higher DE. Are you going to try and argue that McKenzie was the single best user of the ball by hand and foot last year because he had the best DE in the comp? Better than Isaac Smith or Andrew Gaff or Billings? Surely not.

Jeez this forum would be lost without a scapegoat.
Lonie, scratched
Kent, scratched
Gears, out but scratched beforehand

But now we have DMAC [emoji106][emoji106]

Whew, thought we were out of players to unfairly rubbish.

When was he a scape goat, I thought you were against simplistic overreaction. I said the coach loves him because he's tough at the contest. You seem to want to be outraged about nothing the last couple of days. Like the people losing their shit about a band with Japanese connotations playing on Anzac Day.

So based on a podcast where they are taking the piss, DMAC is getting a game.

Also this is total disrespect in the playing group because Newnes calls Billings a child and also mercenary for putting off contract talks for more money.

Really, your rubbishing of DMAC and his disposal is wrong both statistically and visually. Hopefully he continues to improve his disposal as he has done this year

Gibbs with gastro?

Hopefully Tex with tuberculosis, Eddie with eczema, Sloane with syphilis and Atkins with amnesia by tomorrow as well.

Lol, read the last 30 posts.

Based on your logic players like Dunstan and Dave would be playing instead of Gresh, Long and a few others.

Dunstan is a mid who can't spread and has lower than average endurance, there is also a minimum standard and positions.

Zac Merrett, one of the best, if not the best, users of the footy in the AFL is going at 78%.

Nathan Brown going at 91%.

Does this mean Brown > Merrett when it comes down to ball in hand?

Gaslighting. Never suggested anything except stats show you are incorrect.

And what does last year have to do how he is performing this year.

You are the one making emotive statements that he cant hit the side of a barn.

As for Billings, as much as he has improved I can remember at least 4 direct turnovers from Billings last week kicking to a contest. That goes into his poor 70% ED do it is even worse.

Sure, dislike DMAC all you like, but in my view your rubbishing of him is unwarranted.

Pretty obvious to anyone who goes to a game that DMAC's composure and kicking is pretty poor. It's improving though.

And that is the point. To say he cant hit the side of a barn is just bagging the guy when he is improving.

Kent is a beautiful field kickers how hit blokes on the tit from 60.

Nek minute he misses at target by 20 metres and out on the full.

Apparently. Hilarious how BS is just made up.
Rubbish. What's hilarious is people using a famously BS stat like disposal efficiency to tell people they haven't seen what their eyes have seen.
DMac is improving, he's a good runner and a really good competitor.
He's far from reliable yet ball in hand or one-on-one in a marking contest. Go back and watch some footy instead of bandying numbers about on BF.
His disposal has been better recently, but when he stuffs up it's pretty monumental. Then again, Webster and Savage have been that way in the past too so there's a lot of hope for DMac imo.
Anyway, it's clearly about system this year, and having people you can depend on to play their role, back each other up and get to the right positions to be effective. Dan has been terrific in those areas when he's played, much as Geary was terrific in doing that last week and I'm happy Dan's in the team to replace him.
If people don't rate someone's disposal, why try to bully them on here and say they're making stuff up? He's far from a bloody Lindsay Gilbee. And if you think he's good one-on-one at this stage in his career, go back and watch Swallow embarrass him in the Suns game.
We're all supporters on here and all hope Dan does well. Hopefully he comes out and embarrasses us the way Acres made you look like a bit of a goose this past month.

I’m going to say that this is the toughest, hardest Saints side I have seen.
Not the most highly skilled, however last weeks game certainty shows that’s on the improve, I thought we were quite clinical against the Dees.
That is why Dmac or White would have been the only two considered to replace Gears, they’ve both got massive jam tarts and it’s not all about sublime skills this year. I think that will sort itself out.

Also think we are finally in a position to be able to play horses for courses due to our depth!
Against Adelaide i would love White's rebound, pace and ball use, against more dour opposition then i think Dmac should get the nod!

Adelaide have been equally poor as Melbourne in defending quick ball transition this year and i believe we should attempt to exploit them in this area
As much as possible!.....Anyways i'm comfortable with the team selected....Really hope Bruce gets up, we will need him!

Hopefully more of the same this week Saints....Be Bold, Brave and back our pace to play havoc with the Crow's gameplan!
Together with the same intensity and pressure the result will look after itself as the boys believe more and more in what they can do!
Any complacency then Adel is the type of team to make us really pay!
Will be interesting to see how we cope with being the faves and whether our maturity can withstand being the hunted!
Quality post mightymalaka !

Isn't this coming from the same bloke who called Acres lazy after he was played out of position in his second game back? Or was that someone else?

DMac has improved for sure but my eyes tell me his disposal can improve a hell of a lot from where it is now. Maniac for the contest but can be erratic maniac too.
We all hope he improves like all players, White included.
