A celebrated junior ruckman, the promising Sam Hayes is yet to debut but is highly rated by Port Adelaide’s football department. As evidence by the club’s refusal to engage in any talks of him being included in the deal that brought Aliir Aliir to Alberton despite not having a senior game under his belt yet. Hayes also recently signed a contract extension to tie him to Port Adelaide until at least the end of 2023, further illustrating the club's belief in his ability.

Sure if things were fair. Non-Vic side player, whose club just gave spineless Gil a massive * you, he’s getting multiple weeks. Thankfully only Bulldogs in the next 3 weeks are a tough opponent.

By deciding he would only replace Lycett, not get a taste playing with him at any stage, it was a roll of the dice as to the size of the challenge that would represent. Let's see what he has at AFL level. Better now than in the finals, should it be required.

It is almost a blessing.

We get him games before finals just in case he is needed.

He gets to see what he needs to work on.

Scooter gets a rest.

So long as we win 2 of the next 3 and build towards finals testing our depth at this time of year is good.

And Hayes getting game time will make it easier for him to stay.
