Angus Brayshaw please.
Nice as it would be, but at what cost? He has to be at worth at least $600-700K a year. How much do we have left in the salary cap with Neale, Daniher and Cameron on big money. Early retirement (Zorks, Robbo, Lester), let McStay go, trade Gardiner .......................

Would be a good get for them and good financially for McStay but probably not the best footy decision. Plus if they lose de Goey through free agency it would complicate their compensation

That’s rumour has been constant for weeks now.
And Leigh Matthews said earlier in the week that Dan was happy in Brisbane, but he may be tempted by the big money. In the end, its McStay's decision. As a fan I would be disappointed if he left, but that is way things are now. Money, locality, future, success, all these things he needs to considered. Does he want to be apart of the Trident (Hipwood, Daniher, McStay) or playing next to De Goey and Mihocek, or 2m Peter and Stringer?

McStay to Collingwood is an easy link to make. Victorian club crying out for a tall forward and he's a Victorian KPF and out of contract.

Which other clubs needs him and would be wanting to spend big money for a guy like him right now?

Melb: Brown, McDonald, Weiderwhatsisname
WBD: Naughton, JUH, Darcy
Carlton: McKay, Curnow, De Konig
Essendon: Wright, Stringer ??? (Could be an option)
Geelong: Hawkins, Cameron, Ratugolea
Hawks: Lewis (Could be an option)
North: Larkey, Combden, CCJ
Richmond: Lynch, JRoo, Balta
St Kilda: King, Marshall/Hayes/Ryder

Personally, it's going to be one of either Collingwood, Essendon, Hawthorn, North Melbourne or St. Kilda (if they decide to go with 3 talls), with Geelong & Richmond also being long-term options for him (becomes that second banana for them once Hawkins & Riewoldt retires for their respectful clubs).

Dan's forte is as the 3rd tall. From what I saw of young Kreuger Thursday night, he has the potential to be as good in that role.

McStay is an interesting one. He appeared to be a vital cog in the finals last year once he went down, and has been exceptional so far in the forward line this year. So losing him will clearly hurt.

However if he did choose to go, does that open us up to bring in another high rated midfield. I think the overall dangerousness of the forward line would still exist. With Danniher / Hipwood as keys and Fort as second ruck, then Cameron / McCarthy / Rayner, that's alot of firepower still.

I'd probably rather keep him then see him go, but from a pure fifa style trading sim, I could see the argument for letting him go.

I'd question he's been exceptional so far this year. A consistent McStay is a valuable asset but but Consistency and Dan McStay are words that do not go together. 144 games now, the club should get a solid performance every game but we do not unfortunately.

Apart from Joe which forward has been consistent?

So it might end up something like:

Tall Forwards: Daniher, Hipwood and/or Fort/Big O
Small Forwards: Cameron, McCarthy, Bailey/Lohmann

It would make us more agile and certainly allows a bit of a horses for courses approach. It would be a shame that we wouldn't ever really get to see Joe, Hippy and McStay together in their prime.

Good to see you’ve narrowed it down to 80% of Victorian clubs and not sat on the fence 😋

Not a lot of tall depth up forward if McStay goes and we don’t replace him with another mature option. Harris or Jack Payne I guess?

I hope Dan stays, I do think he makes us a better team. But realistically I think the forward line could be rejigged to work. 2nd ruck in Fort has proven handy. Even if it was just 1 Key forward plus some meds and small. McCarthy, Cameron, Rayner can all take strong marks

No problem, glad I can be a complete service on here and voice my so called "expert opinions" to y'all in the AFL trading industry ;)

Being serious now though, Collingwood seems to be the most likely options looking on the outside for me (as mentioned before) out of all of the Victorian clubs, given the lack of current KPFs at the club and the additional lures of possibly being the number 1 key forward at the most popular club in the country, having a massive pay rise/increased contract security & being able to go back home to his birth state to spend more time with family and friends.

I still think he stays. He is always one to leave his contract late. Seems very settled in Brisbane. Can’t see him leaving at all
