Oh no we cant do that.. the sheltered petals might have to play against each other and meet people not in the afl system .. cant have that impost on them.

Some of the new Ammos top ups only get introduced to the remaining Beagles side at the captain's run on Thursday some week.

So they are meeting a lot of people not even in the WAFL system

As if.. they wouldn’t wee on them if on fire. Put them at a club where they have to socialise and buy into another clubs culture and go out of their comfort zone once and a while.

The thing I don't get which would be the most logical solution is just setup the Beagles like Peel?
Have a decent chunk that is WAFL quality and then set a cap on how many AFL listed players we can run through there.
That way we're competitive but also not going to be stacked with just AFL listed players.

That way if we end up like we are now with a stupidly long injury list there is still a solid core of WAFL players in the team that wont screw the integrity of the comp and still give kids an opportunity to develop.
It's patently dumb that both the club and the WAFC can't sort this shit out.
Perth are also mind-blowingly stupid for not wanting to align.

Also if we forfeit there is likely to be uproar on those teams that miss out on a huge percentage boost unlike the teams we did play. That'll go down well.

So, looks like the game will go ahead (for now). We've named 23 players in an extended squad, which appears to be every fit player we have (though two of the guys named - Levien and Deegan - are on the injury list with a foot injury/COVID respectively)

It seems the injury curse extends to the WAFL Eagles too - Creasey and Garlett both out from last week with ankle injuries, Hansen out with COVID. Probably three of our five best WAFL-listed players there.

Just the one AFL-listed player named - Tyrell Dewar. We may get Jack Williams in as a late inclusion, and maybe one more emergency who didn't travel to Adelaide.

Doubt it makes much difference though. This is going to get bad.

Think I heard during the week that Alec Waterman is out for the season - possibly a journalist mentioned it in passing during Simpson’s press conference

He is - according to the WAFL website he has a chest injury...

13 players injured out of a WAFL Eagles squad of ~30-35 - it's no surprise they struggled to field a team this week.

I loved when our player were divided among the WAFL clubs tbh. Made every game a bit more relevant as a fan and the players could go down to reserves if needed.

If we can't get the dunderheads at Perth to align I'd rather we revert to that. Players gaining fitness and confidence at WAFL level is more important than attempting an AFL gamestyle that may not even be suited to that level and competition.

The talk over last summer at one stage was that's what was going to happen this year. I was all for it.

It's so clearly the decision that should be made in the interim while we sort out a proper set up. The players will get far more out of it than the current set up

The WAFL doesn't want another WAFL team (like Peel).
The main reason for the restrictions is that they don't want to dilute the talent amongst the other teams by allowing the Beagles to have WAFL quality talent.
The competitiveness of the Beagles depends on the size of our AFL club's injury list.
They were doing well in the preseason games when we hardly had anyone injured.

Other professional team based sports have well structured development programs. AFL is'nt in the international league but the current WAFL shambles is diabolical. My first concern is for drafted kids thrown into such a disfunctional situation.

Plenty or garbage is thrown at the VFL on here but the xenaphobic WAFL is worthy of far more. I wonder if they want to recognise a link between Eagles and dockers performance to the overall level of interest in footy in Perth. A rising tide lifts all boats as an ebtide lowers them.

If anyone’s ever dealt with the WAFC you’d understand what a shit show they are. Last I heard they were under investigation for paying mates exorbitant fees for “consultation”. I never heard any outcomes of that so maybe it got swept under the rug, but it would have been better for everyone if they got called out for their dodgy antics.

They are completely asleep at the wheel at the WAFC.

City of Joondalup is revoking the 100% discount on facility hire for junior sport - nett effect +$100-150/kid for footy registration per season. That's every kid in the district who needs a kid-sport voucher to play footy out of the system for starters before you even look at kids who don't qualify for kidsport but the increases will force them out. Other councils are watching closely and will no doubt move to access this income stream for themselves if CoJ gets away with it.

WAFC, while their grass roots are getting round-up poured on them by CoJ...crickets.

Based on Freo's extensive trophy cabinet? [emoji1787]
Based on players leaving Freo and actually staying in the AFL system.

Absolutely no one sees any value in any of our players who are on the fringes.

Few would see value in many of the ones we call B22 locks.

We can't develop role players for our 22 let alone surplus ones with trade value.
