Just did another ladder predictor - assuming no real upsets, we’ll finish 9th

Need a few results to go out way still, even with the Dogs and Saints losses this week
Finals are gone in my eyes. Focus on playing the future now. Club needs to make some tough calls end of the year.

Nicks wont do that.

He will continue to push for Finals and therefore the teams selected will reflect the desire to make the 8 rather than eye on the future.

He'll be sacked end of season if he continues to do that. Im confident that he knows we've blown our top 8 chances and we will see wholesome changes this week.

Yeah I would move him on. I doubt the club does that. What they will do is sack him next year when there is no decent coaches available. It's how we roll. Buckley, Carr or Hardwick are instant upgrades on Nicks.

Let me ask you, do you think Sloane deserved to be selected last week?

That answers your question about selections.

They will continue selecting the strongest teams in his eyes without looking at the future, until mathematically we cant make the 8. Which wont likely happen for a few more rounds.

Ironically we have Buckley's chance of landing Carr or Hardwick, pardon the pun. :$

I agree Bucks and Dimma would definitely be an upgrade, dont know enough about Carr yet to make an informed decision.

I think Carr is running the show at powaa. Ken sits on the boundary and cheerleads.

No, i agree again the selectors put Sloanes Milestone before the best interests of the club. I get your POV but i am confident Sloane wont play this week, too little too late. They will debut Nankervis and drop him the next week, Sloane comes back in for the showdown :drunk:. I do still believe Sloane wont be offered a contract next year, and thats why this club is so infuriating. They did this with Rowe and his delisting last year as well

So worst players in the ground in the last quarter v GWS

Max
Rachele
Walker
Fogarty
Pedlar
Butts
Sholl
Murphy
Sloane

Only Walker and Sloane would be regarded as an experienced player - and Walker will be top 3 B&F

Laird dominated
Smith was good bar a terrible handball
Dawson was solid
Keays and ROB weren’t great but better than those listed

So most of the guys you would drop are young guys?

Nah mate - not just on one week of selections and positions. This should have been so so different.

We SHOULD be seeing many more minutes in key roles through our young developing players throughout the year. But no.

Why are we still seeing Sloane - Laird - Keays as our go to combo when it gets tight? Because Nicks doesn't trust the young players, because Nicks never gave them a decent chance to earn that trust. He seems to have one move - put Dawson where we need to lift.

It stinks of fear.

OR... could it be, that they are young and just don't have the engine yet? From what I can see, They HAVE trusted them a fair bit this season - from the get go, with Schoenberg, Soligo, Berry and Rachele in the first two rounds, with Pedlar from about mid way (Round 10). Keays has featured in the top 3 mid field attendances in only 6 of the 16 games (and a couple of those because he was tagging). Sloane only three times. Berry appeared 5 times, Rachele 7 times. Soligo had 4 games in the top 5. Schoenberg 3. And Pedlar has been in the top 4, 5 times. The only other players that have been in the top 2 most games are Laird and Dawson (After Round 2).

Why are Keays and Sloane being measured by top 3 and others by 4 and 5?

Will we make finals in 2023? No but it was an interesting ride. With a better coach we most definitely would have.

We need a better midfield rather than a new coach. Nick's can only work with what he's got. Ours simply isn't good enough. He's done a lot right this year, we just don't have the cattle yet. I'm not saying Nick's is the one but there are other things to fix up before getting rid of him.

Now that finals are all but gone, if we look to the future and play the kids (which we won’t) then the AFL would probably take draft picks off us for tanking.
