Last year Newchurch had a good patch and was kicking goals. A spot opened up in the AFL team in his exact position and we were obviously stinking at the time, no chance of finals.

And we still didn't pick him.

Basically acknowledging that we don't rate this guy and he'll never play for us.

So why did we bother with him on the list this year? Was he already contracted?

Surprised he didn't come straight back in the side after the suspension. They fought hard for him at the tribunal only to not select him afterwards. Some would say thats pretty poor by nicks. Most here would have him in the side before murphy.

Newchurch's 2022 vs 2023 seasons (up to R18 2023). (I'd thought he got way more goals last year than this since I thought he was played more away from goals this year (disposal count would confirm but I havent checked that) but I was wrong. More goals this year than last. Inside the top 10 in SANFL goal kickers this year. I won't disbelieve we'd delist him this year but I'll be surprised at the same time.

Why not delist and put back on rookie? If someone poaches, well we should've managed our list better.

Who else have we lost recently due to our culture? I feel like we are much better in this regard to what we were a few years ago when we had players wanting out every year just about.

Players leave clubs all the time for various reasons. It doesn't always have to be due to the culture at the club, they could just get a better offer from another club, or they just want a change.
