Training Preseason Training Thread - 2024/25

And that’s me done for preseason

Probably the best conditioning I’ve seen the squad in since I’ve been attending training.

There’s a bit to look forward to this season albeit we’ll lose more than we win and there’ll be the occasional shellacking when things come completely unstuck

Stay positive, take the good with the bad as the players learn the new game plan and Mini identifies what he has to work with. Some will thrive, others will fall away but one thing I’m sure of is that the effort and desire to compete and improve will be there

Onwards and upwards, enjoy the season

Ginbey and Allan look like they could both just about go coast to coast solo. So explosive the pair of them.

Was good to see Long up the ground, he's someone you want streaming forward and kicking inside 50.

Dewar plays like Wanganeen-Milera with his feints and fast feet.

Shanahan has Gov like clunking ability and is a prodigious kick.

Waterman's hands were

Hewett still scratchy, but it's understandable. Been a long time out.

Hutch is going to be handy, but he needs to execute really basic handballs better.

Archer Reid will take some stopping in a few years, seems to be ahead of JWill.

Kelly took a while to find his touch, but when he found it he was very good.

From the 22 that started I’d make these changes:

IN: Dewar, Flynn, JWilliams, Hewett, Maric

OUT: Hunt, BWilliams, AReid, Owies, Cole

SUB: Hall or Johnston

like it, hell of a lot of our young players have got some very nice talent!
Hope they keep putting pressure on all year!
If they do we will have a significant improvement in our list.

pretty sure when a YouTube livestream ends the video has to ‘process’ before it gets published as a video you can rewatch

Just looking a few years down the track, WC could have Ginbey, Allan and Garrison Kenh all rebounding/intercepting together....a mouth watering prospect

Last year they did put up the intraclub, albeit broken into quarters.

The green shoots are starting to push out the dead grass. Reccomend setting the status on our stock from “sell” to “don’t buy”

But so far we looked great against Richmond (who are potentially going for a zero win season) and our arguably best 23 beat up against our B team (who combined have only won a handful of games over the last 3 seasons).

So, I'm staying cautious still

Long term yes, but we'll still be pretty ordinary this year

I wouldn't call it hate. Realistically, he's a fringe player, isn't in the best 6 defenders and is unlikely to get better. Some of these kids are reaching similar levels of output, so where do you put your resources?
