Give Durdin a run and McKay if he's fit or close to fit.

Williams, Evans out (or Young if Williams is fit).

If McKay isn't fit, just swap Durdin in for Williams (if injured) or Evans (if Williams is fit).

Only other possible change would be Pitto to come in if he's fit, in which case Young would be the obvious omission.

I might pay up early on my ongoing bet with a pies supporting mate.

Durdin: not fit
McKay: is on leave
Williams: achilles soreness and has history there.
Pitto: not fit either
Young: just played one of his better games

Thought Haynes has improved week to week and Cowan not so much
Certainly not the Hawks game where he was woeful, and I suppose the only way was up v the WBs.

Regardless, if we are dropping Cowan for the ghost of Nick Haynes...my god, what are we doing.

Cowan has been fair to middling...but still better than Haynes, all with the added responsibility of actually having to stand an opposition player

Is that you Voss?

No change unless Williams is out and Cripps does get up from his corked buttock. Lord can replace Cripps and white can replace Williams otherwise go again. Dogs were better than Collingwood last week so the game will very likely be a kick either way even with our same team out there.

Back the Pies at 1.50 mate...I still can't get over the prices on offer against us. We're a rabble

Here's my optimistic take...

Carlton 3 Goals up at half time
Carlton 2 Goals up at 3/4 time
Collingwood go up a gear and overrun us in 4th
Collingwood win by 3 Goals

Carlton happy go with the Honorable loss ... Voss pleased with effort in the presser.

Carlton 0-4

Ladder position - 17th

ps. I wanted a bet with Collingwood colleague that Carlton would end up higher on the ladder at end of H&A. he didn't take me up on the bet (now regrets) Let off the hook there

We need some fresh legs for this one

Cowan’s been very one dimensional so far.

He competes but doesn’t create.

He’s not great above his head.

Ok by foot & hand.

Weiters to deepest tall - Mihocek/McStay.

Gov to Elliott.

SOS to Membrey.

Saad to Hill.

Cowan/Boyd to Schultz

No point dropping any - who will take their place for these match-Ups?

Carlton must be drooling at the prospect of getting through this week against Collingwood to then get West Coast and North. No guarantees we'll win those only best chance of getting a win on the board.

I can see the Headline .... 'The Blues are Back!!'

Our defence has kept the three teams to around 80 points! And the defence is meant to be our glaring weakness!?!
It's the midfield that's on holidays, one goal in three games! That is indictable!!
The small forwards don't even need to be mentioned, they are simply just not up to it. Change is absolute, no space for questions, only action and change...

Outs: Williams, Doc, Evans, McGov

Ins: H (🫰), Boyd, Moir, White, Lord (sub)

I'd be getting pitto back in and Tom up fwd
Why? This makes no sense - TdK is AA form in the ruck. Harry needs to come back in but Young proved he can do the job and support Charlie and Kemp. Why don’t we fix the problems, instead creating new ones?

We need to start trying things up forward. The same old forwards who have been getting regular games week in week out and hardly touch it, use it poorly and don't kick goals year in year out every single week. Persisting with them endlessly. You keep doing the same thing over and over and it keeps failing over and over, what are you?

We only had 4 goal kickers last week.

Fogarty - Averaged .6 goals a game last year. Gets a high tackle count which keeps him in the side but that is what you get when you are consistently second to the ball every time. Has not kicked a goal this season and butchers it more times than he is effective. Voss has rocks in his head if he thinks he's a decent player. Geelong don't get rid of decent players.

Cottrell - He is slightly better than last season. He is actually getting the ball and slightly impacting in the contest. Averaged .6 goals last season and like Fogarty around the 10 disposals but at least his kicking is decent. He's probably slightly improved this year averaging close to 1 goal a game.

Evans - Averaged .5 goals per game and around 7 disposals. He is actually worse than we we already had on our list. Austin Voss and Co need a real kick up the arse for this recruitment.

Motlop - At least he has looked likely. He has actually got his disposal count up and is running a lot better. His goal scoring is not really happening yet but I will give him one thing. He has improved and hopefully keeps improving.

Docherty forward was a complete failure.

I think Kemp, Curnow and even Young can hold their heads up high and deserve their spor this week. None of the others do and a few of them should not be in the team.

Voss was smart and fearless as a player but as a coach he is neither of those things. Afraid to play certain players. Consistently gifts games to players who consistently perform poorly.

Those forwards I have mentioned, are not good enough to avoid losing their spot to young players or valid experiments.

I think Cottrell and Motlop hang on because they have improved a little and are having an impact, even if it's a small impact, it's still an impact. The others should not be there. That is mostly on the recruiters but also the coach.

Play White. He kicked goals in the VFL, he has pace, he has some cleverness about him. Why do we keep defaulting to Evans who has never played well and has had his chance?

Boyd is a good all round footballer with traits which should allow him to impact as a forward. Fogarty was failed midfielder we picked up from Geelong who failed as a midfielder and we tried to turn into a forward. Boyd is a much much better footballer than Fogarty. He's quicker, he's hard at it, he is strong defensively but what he has is great skills. What's better, 10 disposals from Fogarty or 10 disposals from Boyd? Especially in the forward half of the ground. It's easy, it's really really easy and why the coach can't see any of this is why he is failing as a coach.

What about Moir? Is his fitness that bad? What about get some games into him as the sub? He came on end of last year as the sub, kicked goals, laid tackles and setup goals. He's fitter this season. We really lack this. What's wrong with the coach? Get him in as sub at least. He might come in in the last quarter this week and kick goals, lay tackles and set us up. That would be good.

But here we are. It's already bleeding obvious Voss has designated his favourites and his non-favourites. It's the same thing we have seen from him every season. His opinions on players are again making him make poor selection decisions.

Parko doesn't reckon we are going to win until after easter. I hope we get this win but to be any chance at all we need to fix the forward line. We are carrying too many non-contributors now. We carried a few the last few seasons but now we are carrying too many.

I think we can win it because the backline and midfield are good. I really worry some of their quicker types will run over us but stranger things have happened. An upset win would be great but we need to do something different and make changes or we are no chance.
The forwards arent as bad as the delivery (or non delivery) they are getting. This week was much better with them finding space, but the ball kept getting turned over and delivered to the OP through hack kicks.

True but Pitto can hold his own with the best rucks in the comp
Our small fwds are giving us nothing, I'd be playing an extra tall fwd, I'd have kemp Charlie Tdk and Harry fwd with 2 of them probably Tom and Harry leading up the wings to link up defence, both are great kicks inside 50, Tom showed that on the weekend
Just think this would stretch teams and we need to change something desperately

Also youngy isn't upto it
