In all seriousness. There’s been a lot of talk about the onfield performance being historically bad. But there is absolutely no sign of a Fitzroy-type stench of death about the club or the players. After all the years we had reason to worry - even when we were performing well - that any downturn would be our last as a stand-alone Victorian club, we are now able to ride through even this. We won more than we knew in 2007, we were part of changing the AFL landscape.

I was more relieved than excited but that clip has me up and about. Massive genuine emotion from the captain and the guys who have already committed for the long term - and CD and Parker right behind them with the hugs and congratulations. Clarko beaming, he must be delighted.

Brought a tear to my eye seeing Jy, Lmac and Souv's reaction. You can see it means so much to them knowing that senior core group have all committed together.

Huge $$$.

Go big tomorrow Luke.

We need it.

The skeptic in me thinks this was announced to take some heat from the dogshit performance last week.

Why on Earth would we give any phux what Kane Cornes thinks?

GO LDU!!!

I don't.

I care what he's doing and what I can see with my own eyes.

He needs to lift. He's WAY down on pretty much every stat category from last year.

He's down 30-35% in all of possessions, contested possessions, clearances etc.

His ground ball gets have plummeted, as have his hard ball gets etc.

If I didn't know any better, i'd say it was OP or something and not covering the ground.

He hasn't averaged these numbers in about 4-5 years.

He's had 1 game above 23 disposals to start the season.

To put that in perspetive, he's had about 4 sub 23 disposal games in his last 3 seasons.

Hopefully it was the contract, which is now sorted. Because this is an extremely unusual start to the year from the star player from the last 50-60 games. Especially all in a row.

He's injured. He was underwhelming in R1, very good in R2, and then he got injured. Let's not start ringing the alarm bells yet

Hard to believe Mase is already 32 at the end of this year.
Made something out of his career in the end . IMO don’t think we developed him very well when he was with us.

3 home games in GA for $9

Worth signing up a few cats and dogs or even the cows.
It’s genius getting all these non north supporters into the autorenew system nmfc supporters love 😳

This deal is even on Ozbargain - plenty signing up just for the $9 hat/scarf, lol.

No, I don't buy that. You don't "develop" at 27 (or whatever he was when he left us). He was pretty well developed.
But wasn't well coached and well utilised. Plus was very injury prone.

Lyon is a very good coach. In fact I admit, I have underestimated how good a coach he is.

Not only has he shown that he can adapt to a different game style that he was well known for, but he has also proven that he can adapt to the way AFL football is changing. The game has changed so much over the last 10-15 years, much more so than it has in the previous 50. And very few modern coaches have adapted to that. Huge question marks on Clarko in that regard.

When there were rumors we might be interested in Ross I wasn't keen at all. But in hindsight, I was probably wrong.
