Is it so different than shaking hands at the start of the game.? Enough with the hand wringing
Shaking hands start of a game is simply protocol it means nothing.
High fiving yeah i think thats a little different let's have all our players high fiving the opposition prior to each game .
You're happy a member of our leadership group is doing this ?

It’s ****ing stupid.

Start of the game and if you’re mates outside of footy, fine.

Absolutely no need to high five 3 opposition players going back to your position whilst 60 points down.

i understand footys no longer the macho macho vibe it used to be but seriously, show some sort of competitive streak or pride.
This didn't happen...

I'm confused did the high 5 happen after 3qtr time or at the start of the game?

This the same Nathan Buckley who decimated the youngest premiership side because he couldn't work with them?

What’s that got to do with anything?

A bloke who played at an extremely high level for 15 years then coached for another 10 years’ opinion is moot because he checks notes, traded some senior players in his first few years of coaching which was over 12 years ago now.

99% sure I saw it on the TV at 3QT as Charlie was running back to his position. Or were they airing footage from the start of the game?

mod edit: yep we know, CS knows etc

They were talking about it at 3/4 time, and yes, it was earlier footage, which they didn't make clear. Somebody pointed out that one of the three was Howe, who wasn't on the field at all at 3/4 time.

The thing that hits the hardest is when you hear some Collingwood fans feeling pity for us...and laugh at just how bad we are. If that's not a big enough kick in the guts to make the club want to fix things, I don't know what is.

Having said that, we must be one of the lowest footy IQ playing and coaching groups in the comp. You watch the Pies kick it to their forwards...virtually every kick into the forward 50 is to the forwards advantage. Gives them a better than 50/50 chance of being able to do something. Us...just bomb it long with no clear vision of what they're trying to do.

Just the very definition of insanity doing the same stuff over and over again and expecting a different outcome.

Sadly for us, I think there's a fair down period before we have any hope of being a proper football side again. When a large chuck of your playing list isn't up to it, it's a fair way back.
Your first paragraph is bang on but the problem is those within the four walls of the club are the only ones who can change this and by in large they don’t have the passion or energy for it like the supporter base does. The criticism clearly doesn’t sting because there’s no response or line in the sand. We’ve got too many blokes happy to be AFL players and make big money and that’s it.

This was from 2023

I know mate. That was the point. :)

That was in the year we had that run and made PF. Then made the EF the next year. Now back to getting laughed at. We are a rabble.

20+ years of being a laughing stock. 8+ years of trying a serious rebuilding of the list. Two years of making finals. Back to a laughing stock.

This 100%
We have not learned a thing.
Lost count of how many times we did it again last night, to the point of joking with Pies supporters about it.
I HAD to laugh, the other options aren't good for my health.

That was a long time ago. You think he may have learned a thing or two since? Maybe he lived it and knows what it looks like?
I think his attitude here is akin to the precise same attitude that had him dismantle a premiership side and blame the players for it.
What’s that got to do with anything?

A bloke who played at an extremely high level for 15 years then coached for another 10 years’ opinion is moot because he checks notes, traded some senior players in his first few years of coaching which was over 12 years ago now.
I think - and, seeing as we're in full, 'how do you know this, can you prove it' territory here, this what I think, based on nothing much more than the publicly available evidence and his media output - that he confuses "I cannot work with these players" with "I will not do what it takes to work with these players."

That's the relevance. He looks at a playing group and sees entitlement and blames them for it; someone actually good at the job knows how to use entitlement to get the job done.

I remember the ugliness I felt in the preview stating that it would be ugly. So many cliches I could use and so many different perspectives that could be absorbed, but I truly don't (in a way) want to know how ugly it is behind the scenes.

I haven't seen the entire thread and responses which I can imagine are sad and despondent. For the Curnow "high five" at the start of the 4th, it's simple, you show your opponent respect by showing them none. Who said that? Michael Jordan to Shaquille O'Neal mid game. You don't do it. Players and times have changed, but this is just wrong to do mid-game. Old school philosophy perhaps, but not a fan of it, still not the biggest concern for me.

What's truly sickening is seeing the filth's fans being so happy and calm about their team knowing that they're playing for the club and the coach. They're truly united from top to bottom. And they know on the rare occasions when (unfortunately, because I would love nothing more than to see them suffer) when they're getting beaten, they'll fight to the end for a result, for pride, for honour. We don't even have that. Pretty basic fundamental.

Coaching and their staff preach about contest, contest, contest. That's a bare minimum. Let's play a game, who in our team has other traits like poise, composure, football I.Q, understanding, situational game analysis? Few. If any.

No structure, shape, efficiency, skills. They're fixable with the players who want to adapt. But who wants to adapt? Right now, we all know the players this year have "checked out". Just don't lie to us about it. Because, we can see through your lies, deception and betrayals.

End of mini rant over.

Voss cant coach I wasn't happy when we hired him and its been proven that he cant coach, did the exact thing with the Lions. What is his plan exactly? Loaded up on inside mids with no skill expect for getting the ball out and then what? Bomb it long in hope our two so called super stars and mark it?

What is the plan exactly? We are scared to look for a target because we don't have the foot skills to get it to the free player, we don't have the speed to run and carry, seems like we can't do anything other than win the ball with our big bodied midfield.

Think we need to let go Cripps he has been the ring leader when the players seem to "magically" don't want to play for the coach, gun footballer but not a leaders arseh*le, he is a bad example for the kids when it comes to leadership. Our leadership group in general goes missing, they don't play for the club or the supporters, was evident after the Richmond loss and has been evident all through the season.
