I once swallowed a book of synonyms.

It’s given me thesaurus throat I’ve ever had.

I really feel for Day — it’s been a tough year for him, first losing his old man and then dealing with that hamstring setback, whilst adjusting to a new club and system. Our forward line definitely functions better with him in it, and the stats now back that up.
His grandfather also passed away last week. Been a tough year for the Day family.

Famous football family mourns death of SA Hall of Famer Ian Day

I'm originally from Adelaide and am very familiar with the Ian Day name. Didn't realise Sam was part of that Day family. Interestingly Ian Day was a rover so Sam got his tall genes from somewhere else by the looks of it.

I'm confident that we will get to a 35 point lead then just hold it thereabouts.

Expect Carlton will have strong response to this week's drama but in the end they'll fold.

Will Michael Voss' coaching career finish with a loss to Brisbane?

I would have thought he needs time in the ruck to get his mojo back rather than play in a position that won’t be his norm when finals come.
Whilst I agree in part, a little bit of management wouldn’t be a bad idea considering the current issues.
Getting him to finals fit, is the number one priority imo.
I am not suggesting he play the whole game forward.

Not thinking you want him at full forward the whole game. That said, if he’s good to play, he needs to play his role as ruck otherwise dont pick him. No point being in the 22 come finals time if he’s not there as our #1 ruckman. Forty did the job last year and I’m confident he would do it again should Big O not be cherry ripe to play there himself.
Maybe he starts the game as 1st ruck and is subbed out when he feels fatigued. (If he does get to that stage)

I hope not but Carlton has history in sacking coach’s. Think Wright may be involved which hopefully has Vossy staying while later in the year some others are held accountable for their roles in this mess they are in.

Assuming they both named in the 22 i would think share ruck with both spending some time forward would be the go.
Spreads the load for both and gives us some height at times forward.

Why am I nervous about this game
Because we're heavy favourites. Which means we're probably gonna play poorly based on what we've seen in similar situations this year.

Fingers crossed Smith picks up where he left off in the VFL 🤞

Reckon tonight announces where we are at mentally. They‘ll be aware how important the points are this week given the run home, so turning up hungry against poor opposition would suggest to me we’re switched on for the business end

It would be sad to see Vossy sacked after a heavy loss to us. I think he’s been unlucky - as he was with us - that the support around him has been underwhelming. I can see the poetic side of the Lions bookending his involvement in playing/coaching though.

That said, this is a must win so I hope we can be ruthless. We generally play Marvel well, so on exposed form we should take the points - especially if we’re serious about contending this year.
