I think Cody will have to settle for 11 😜
2AW... later followed by 3AW, who doesn't really say he does, but prefers dishing it off on the right

I'd suggest this early of a decision is more about focussing his training and integration into Carlton, prepping him for the start of his career, as much as anything.

Instead of splitting time across both clubs, focussing all in in one club narrows the focus. Smart thinking by the young man.
I hope that a few more of our upcoming F/S's do the same thing before the start of the junior year. Guts the newspapers rumour mills before they can get started. All they have left is reporting on how good the youngsters are.

Number will actually be interesting, pending the career of one Jack Silvagni. May even decide to make another number his own guven Jack should have quite a few years in front of him. May align for Arli to get the ā€œ1ā€ down the track if Cody is comfortable with an alternate number.

I have one in my head, he has used at times in his junior career, but won’t disrespect the holder with premature suggestions. Needless to say it needs to be a low, probably single digit.
11... because he's twice as good as his dad already?

The beating drums around binning F/S has me nervous, right as we're about to have a cacophony of kids this way for the first time.
The AFL commission would be adorning the light poles around AFL HQ if they binned the F/S. Mostly by irate Carlton supporters just as we get a good run with the sons of champion players starting to come through.

I notice Cody hasn't played with the Pios since round 12 (22nd June), missing the last 3 games.
Anyone know if he's injured or just having his loads managed?
No game for them this week, then only 4 rounds of Coates left.
not sure why he didnt play last week, neither did dean for the bushrangers, but the week before they both played for vic country.
Both have played all Vic Country games to date.
We wanted to play Cody but as we won by 111 points without our best two midfielders being present, apparently he wasn't needed.

He is playing Sunday. You should head down to RSEA Park to watch, if you can.
I'll be the one with the big camera.

I would just like to point out that Lukas turned 15 the other day and is still taller than his dad.

If Lukas can muscle up like his brother, he's going to be a freaking monster.

As stated earlier, I believe that after Sunday’s final championships game we will see Cody play in our reserves. Seems no other reason than to make a firm connection and an element of ownership.
Almost certainly not going to happen.

He will continue to play for Bendigo. Next year he will hopefully get a few chances to play VFL but will still largely play talent league.

Levi Ashcroft (as a FS) only played 1 game for Brisbane VFL last year. Jagga played 2 vfl games. Even Harley Reid as a standout #1 pick only played 3 VFL games.

For better or for worse the Vic talent pathway prioritises playing underage footy. The announcement from Cody to me is more of a feel good moment for the fans than anything else (plus maybe an official exit from the Richmond academy)

Woah!! Easy there, Cody - we’ve already got a pretty stacked lineup, a solid well coached game plan, and a bunch of young guns busting their guts to break in. And honestly, there’s no guarantee you’re even go… ahh who am I kidding? What jumper number do you want, champ?
11 should be available soon.

Hopefully they will have 'No Regrets' about joining the club
When asked why he chose Carlton over Richmond, Cody said 'First Love Never Dies'... ;)

Guernsey number 11 will be available by the end of next year. Arli Walker can take Guernsey number 1 for 17 years until Charlie Silvagni is drafted.

Fantastic news!

The media have now lost a year worth of articles they would have liked to have written lol. Good job Cody nominating us 16 months before the draft.
I'm certain I read during last week that some journalists (and I use the term loosely) are campaigning for drastic change or the abolishment of the father-son rule all together.

I would have thought that more importantly they should be campaigning for rule changes relating to deliberate out of bounds and 50 metre penalties.

Father-son is a unique and important historical element to the best game in the world (despite the AFL trying to ruin it every year).
