Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Charlie and Jack leaving represents nearly 19 years of IP lost, the equivalent of a mass exodus for any business. Adding Doc's retirement (14 years) on top of that only compounds the situation.

No magic required with Charlie. I's simple, either we get picks or high-quality players to fill the void. Nothing less.

If it was Brisbane I'd trade Curnow for Bailey+ 25&26 F1 picks (18ish + 18ish).

His best is irreplaceable, his average underwhelming.

His worst is utterly frustrating.

Re the timing of Doc's retirement, maybe part of it is that he can see the writing on the wall and doesn't want to go through yet another coaching upheaval and all that comes with it. Couldn't blame him if so.

I honestly don't believe this is what will happen or what Wright wants. Strong feeling is Wright believes it can be turned around and quickly.

If Wright gets the people he wants the players will stay. The leaks about Charlie, McKay etc is just early posturing and looking at options in case.

I think TDK is in same position but it may be too far down the track now. TDK wants to stay. BUT if he believes we will be no good or rebuidling he might as well go to Saints for a heap of money. I truly believe that is where he sits

This is what I dont get with Wright. We are currently in major damage control atm with players looking to jump ship.
Why do we have to wait for this official date when Wright is officially CEO. He should just come out now, and announce a couple of changes "with more to come" so people know he is fair-dinkum and try to get the public onside.

Sammy Edmund said something similar today on SEN, that TDK prefers and wants to stay at Carlton but he’s in a difficult situation because the offer is too good to refuse.

I think Doc wanted to leave on his own terms, play on risk injury / playing in VFL….it doesn’t always work out the way you’d hope look at Juddy…and lets face it he was ready to retire…

Confused. Collingwood - currently sitting atop the ladder and premiership favorites, having won a flag a couple of years ago, have put a offer to JSOS which they believe he is worth - this is despite them having already having pretty handy defenders in Houston, Moore, Maynard, Howe and Quaynor.

But we shouldn't match the offer because he's not worth it?

He is one of our best and smartest players and he will be hard to replace - not to mention Carlton Royalty.

We are not in damage control.
We are taking a methodical and planned approach to a significant transition.
Wright has spoken directly to a number of players 1:1.
The players don’t run the club and they are a big part of the problem. They will wait like the rest of us and they will be happy about it.

Not for me. I lose trust in players who allow their contract situation to affect their performance. Those who only play well in a contract year. I'm a little miffed that a few highly paid players have collectively checked out for most of the year, right after getting their big pay days.

They can win me back, but I don't forget.
