Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Buddy was going to GWS (because AFL wanted him there at their expansion club) until he went to the swans

So in the same way, AFL may want Charlie at the Suns as their expansion club, but then goes to Brissie
They wanted Buddy in Shitney regardless of the team. If the AFL wants Charlie in QLD at any cost, they can cover his salary top up from us for the next 3 years.

I think he's been hanging on as long as he has due to that pact with Crippa - they're obviously really close, and given what Doc has been through personally, and the challenges Cripps has faced professionally, I expect they've been integral to eachother in keeping the other grounded and focused and positive.

So while I doubt he was pushed in the sense of being told we didn't want him, I wouldn't be surprised if he was given an honest assessment by Wright, Cook and/or Voss that, whatever happens this off-season, the odds of a flag in 2026 are almost non-existent - to the point that the club will likely make decisions with an eye on the longer term.

If you've got a pact with the skipper to stick it out and bring home that flag, you're mentally and physically hammered and just clinging on to try and honour that pact, and then the club leaders tell you that they're ruling out that flag and making decisions that will maximise our chances in the years after you're gonna retire....well, not surprising that you might decide that it was time to step away and just focus on the next phase of your life.
It is never as good or as bad as it looks!

20 and a half rounds ago we were 2nd on the ladder and 55 points up against GWS.

I don't think we are as far off as people think

If Charlie is traded, it's for players. Picks are not on the high priority list.
Whilst he may not be happy right now most likely when Wright sweeps through his changes alot will change.

l don't expect Curnow to leave, l doubt we get a offer good enough to consider, we hold the power with him being under contract.

Hypothetically who out of GC Brisbane Sydney or Geelong could we get the most out of
Wouldn't have thought it would be Geelong.

Also don't quite understand why they'd chase him. Cameron is 32, I guess it buys them 3 more years but they'd then have to replace him as well.

Thanks for the info.

If you know, is there a chance Charlie's head can be, will be, or is planned to be brought back into Carlton, or has the ship sailed sts?
He understands his place at Carlton and that facilitating a trade is going to be problematic.

Not questioning Schmurfs Intel, but how's the recent runs on the board from our current ITKs?

Noticed the "newer" ITKs have been more active around here since a few changes at the club etc

AFL is such an amateurish competition. Which other sport would you ever hear such a thing happening?

so dale thomas was just on triple m
he asked the guys at the club and club apparently went to curnows management have you been speaking to gold coast about going there - curnows management said no, and curnows management asked the same question back....sooo could all just be bs....or an attempt at a cover up

im still not buying the charlie rumours at all - the smoke/fire line doesnt seem to line up is my feel

Lets just say hypothetically we have a bit of a clean out around him... New Coach, Head of Footy, Players etc...

Is he completely checked out or just a bit over the clubs current situation?

By the way the last however many pages of talking about Charlie is the exact reason why I’m so filthy with Morris for breaking the story when he did.

Nothing to do with the accuracy of his intel but surely you can hold this story for a few days to keep the focus on Doc and his last game tomorrow night. That applies to the rest of them who have run with this although the cat was already out of the bag at that point.
