Another must win.

IMO Sam Marshall, Henry Smith and Bruce Reville (coming on as sub early) all showed enough to be retained.

Outs- Ryan Lester(concussion).

Ins- Bruce Reville.

New Sub- Luke Beecken.

Henry Smith will be better for the run as well, Sam Marshall having a full game in that level of game will be terrific for him too.

Big O, Kai Lohmann and maybe Conor McKenna the only ones who didn't play tonight who could get back into the side... barring some injuries. Lohmann the only back in certainty if fully fit IMO, probably for Marshall. O for Henry a possibility if Henry drops off.

Didn't think Zorks was running that smoothly last night.....could be opportune time to manage him as a sub.

I appreciate it was Marshall’s 1st full game last nigh but watching him live, he looked slow. Not so sure he will keep his spot. Dev, Beeken, Torrent all should be in the mix.

For the ressie watchers is Doedee that far off it that he wouldn’t even be considered? He seems the most like for like replacement for Lester.

Whilst not ideal I wonder if not Doedee they just throw Joyce in for the week.

Everyone else who played last night should get another game next week.

Hasn't been playing well but I wouldn't be surprised if they selected him. Would probably have Brain as the front runner with Joyce and Beecken the other options

Still need to bring our A game to this one. I would bring Beecken in for this game. It's better to debut during the season than if needed in the finals (unless your Wilmot).

Am I wrong in thinking Swans forward line is pretty short at the moment?
I suspect they will play Heeney forward and he is a major threat.

we need to see what we've got before finals with doedee.

i would love to see torrent or beecken get a shot but would be wrong to drop marshall after one full game. give him another game.
This is the way I’m leaning as well. Let Doedee get a game or two to see how he performs at the level. Him at his best (unlikely this season) would be a massive inclusion.

Didn't stick out like Dodongo's last remaining testicle to me, it would be easier to tell live at the game though, maybe one of our clan who went could give their view on it... please.

I don't think he's a racehorse. But he certainly didn't look slow to me. I imagine once he picks up the pace of the game with a bit more experience, his overall game smarts will overcome any actual deficiencies in the speed department.

Actually there was one moment in the game where Will chased a ball right across a vacant 50m zone with 2 Collingwood players and was able to force a throw in. Did a great job and even the Collingwood supporters around me were saying "wow Ashcroft is actually quick 🤯".

There was a slow player out there, probably the slowest I've ever seen. Henry Smith. Happy he can kick straight !

Its always a bit hard to tell in the VFL, its a bit more heater skelter than a defined system. It's also a bit hard to tell what certain players have been told to work on but for mine - Doedee has been about fitness and durability although he hasn't really taken a game apart. He does seem to have good leadership skills and he is always getting around players and encouraging. i think the thing that has stood out about him is his 'first instance' decision making, that really stands out when he has ball in hand. I think he could go ok in the AFL now or soon that skill suits us when changing angles and attacking out of half back. Right now it would only be in Lesters place for the 1 week. I like Beecan as well and he is due but would need a few games in a row and the space is just not there in our backline yet. Reville was good as the makeshift backman but if we need another back ready for finals give Kiddy is probably gone for the season its Doedee for me by a whisker.

Did Marshall spend a lot of time following Sidebottom around??? He's a must to stay in the side IMO. He just knows how to use the ball in traffic which is worth it's weight in gold in high pressure finals

Honestly I think Doedee been serviceable not how I remember him AFL level.
Although VFL not really a great standard although seems to win his one on ones gets in the right spots.
Which is how I see Lester plays in the seniors.
Would not mind Beecken in.. Although see him more the Wilmot, Fletcher type then a Lester replacement.
So for me you think it is Doedee or Fletcher and leave Reville in. Or Beeken to replace Reville?

I thought he was solid yesterday. Good players are like cream and can rise when they step up to another game level.

Out: Lester (Concussion)
In: Brain

Reville to come into the 22 and Brain as Sub.

I think in the lead up to Finals we want to settle the side, especially in defence. Based on last night, after Lester was concussed, you would go into the Sydney game with the same defence that closed Collingwood down. Brain would come in as Sub and then when Lester has completed the concussion protocols he would be an automatic selection for the Fremantle game, with Reville back to Sub and Brain back to the Reserves.

Up the other end, Smith should stay in the team for the last three games and if his form warrants it, for the Finals. It’s harder to fit Lohmann back in, but if we want to go smaller, he could come in for Hipwood, who is in poor form. Marking options would be bolstered by Ah Chee and Raynor. Most people would probably suggest dropping Marshall for Lohmann when he is available, but I’d keep Marshall in the team.

Kind of contradicted yourself there, can’t have a settled side then also replace Hipwood with a small.

I’d give Doedee a go because I think he’s a better option than Gardiner and you’d want him to get a few games under his belt before finals.

I like Marshall but he’s also been very effective as the sub so I think that’s where he ends up when Lohmann is back, also gets Bailey up the ground a bit more which I like.

No way Fagan is dropping Hippy, I watched the replay and I thought apart from a couple of howlers he was quite good, particularly in the 2nd half.

First instinct would be to go Joyce in for Lester with Gardiner taking the third tall role. Make sure Joyce is up to speed if needed in finals. Hes been emergency so hes not far away.

But Im not sure we need a third tall back for the swans forward line. So could be a good chance to debut Beecken. Id rather not mess with the formation but will be interesting to see the thinking.

Keep Marshall in the team and Bruce as sub

Replacing Hipwood would be with an established player in Lohmann as opposed to including Doedee or Beecken.
