Looks like we'll dodge GWS week one and hopefully we can rely on other teams to knock them out.

Brisbane seem to have built their game around beating us in recent times and I think the areas where they get us is midfield depth and how many quality players they have running through there. Not sure we can click our fingers and fix that too quickly.

If we're glass half full - Brisbane only got us by 9pts at the Gabba, and taking the GMHBA result in isolation makes it look comprehensive (which it was), but I think we'll fare better against them at the MCG in finals as our game stacks up better there in my opinion. Easy to use as an excuse, but Lions were red hot that night at GMHBA and Geelong in comparison looked very flat.
That 9 point result at the Gabba really flatters us, though - they should have absolutely crucified us, even taking into the account the big jump we got on them in the first half. We could not get our hands on the footy in the second half.

Just on the fixture and that's what it is fixed could we start by playing every side once before we start double ups FFS.
Don't make sense 😂

Happy for Knevitt to get a run. He is probably the best performed of the Clohesy, Clark, Knevitt merry go round. It is a bit odd they have not been able to get a clear order of preference between those three.

Stevens played a better individual game than all of them but seems behind Clark and Knevitt now.

As much as Steven's performed well on debut at GMHBA Vs Richmond, he did look quite a bit off the mark Vs GWS the week after. I get that the team did not perform well, but there were a few times when GWS runners spread away from the contest and he was nowhere near it. Maybe that's something holding him back from playing come September if we play a few games on the G. If that's the case then it might also be why the club looks at Clark and Knevitt before Stevens gets another look. Clark doesn't really have fast wheels either so not really sure what the current pecking order is.

Without us copping a few injuries, I can't see many of the names mentioned really getting much of a sniff. As for Knevitt his recent VFL form has been well below that of Clark and Clohesy.

For this who this may assist

In regards to the "soft draw" in the run to finals, Tuohy spoke about it on Krock following Sundays match against Port

He said that whether you've had that perceived "soft draw" to finish the season & you get smashed in week 1 of the finals, or alternatively you've had a harder draw with more than a few sore bodies entering finals and you fall short in a tough first up final, that a lot will be made of the teams draw to close out the season

From his perspective, he'd prefer a "softer" that allows the team to tweak the game plan & the chance to feel fresher heading into finals, compared with a series of tough matches that really take it out of you, especially the deeper you go into finals
I have confidence the Coaching Group will recognise the "soft draw" aspect and adjust our training accordingly.
We problem solve very well at the Cattery

Looking back on the teams when we last met Essendon, RD14 when we pumped them by 95 points.
Geelong fielded the exact same side as we did last week Vs Port, while Essendon had a considerably stronger side that included Caddy (played shit), Caldwell (28 possessions), Martin (26 possessions), Parish (26 possessions) and Setterfield (31 possessions), all are now out injured.

This could get really, really ugly for the bombers...

Cats getting a bit more trade value added to Knevitt

If Guthrie is "uncertain" to the point that he won't play then it doesn't look great for him. Starting to lean towards a possible farewell game Vs Richmond in the final round. Would love to see him go on again next year but not sure it happens.

This is never ever the reason for picking a player. We're trying to win a premiership. We're picking him because we think he's the best of the rest and might be needed if we get a few injuries. He might even go up the pecking order if he played well and we don't want him potentially coming into a final with no AFL footy in months.

There's no way we would pick him over a player we prefer in the hope that we can get pick 50 in a trade instead of pick 70.

Tongue was firmly planted in cheek.

‘Whoever’ (not here to argue it) sets the prices for our home games must be very nervy about tomorrow nights crowd figure.

Start of the week, Selwood Stand tickets were $99, $85 yesterday and currently $65 now….

There a rumour going around about Caddy's Mum.

I've seen that - a pretty valid reason for the young man to want to keep out of the spotlight at the moment
