How many times do we think the commentators will confuse Tyson Stengle and Jack Martin on Sunday?

Commentators more likely to confuse Humphries and Martin.

Humphries output has dropped off since Martin has come into the team.

Add me to the Bews camp. Humphries works as an outlet but can still defend. Martin can't. He is just absorbing some of the link up work off Lawson but getting smoked by his direct opponent #Bewsforfinals

That was the easiest change to predict, only the timing of Stengle being available was in question. He is hugely important for our forward line. When he's in form, we look good.
For me it's the fact that Henry is no longer a fly at the ball type forward.
He just runs up the ground to get kicks. We have Miers and Dempsey for that.

Stengle is a more damaging forward albeit different.

Id rather be playing George Stevens over Jack Martin

While I'd loved seeing Stevens in the seniors and would love to see him again if a spot in the guts opened up, Martin isn't the one keeping him out nor are they playing the same role

If we're missing one of Holmes or Smith that would seem the best chance for him as we saw against Richmond. The problem we saw last week with Smith returning was trying to balance his return to the midfield alongside Stevens & Holmes, with the latter often forced out in the first half

While I'm not sure of Martin's role in the team, Clohesy may be the better replacement option as there's a bit of flexibility with Ted, even if it's him coming off the bench as sub

There may be some work needed from the coaching group over summer in terms of looking at our midfield rotations and how a player like Stevens fits into that mix without needing someone like Smith to be missing

Is standing room seats still available? I wasn’t gonna be able to go on Sunday but plans changed. Can’t find them so assumed they are sold out or all been allocated?

I think it's as simple as Stevens not playing well enough to hold his spot.

The idea that we can't squeeze more midfield rotations in is wild. We have the shallowest, most overworked midfield in the league. Holmes, Smith and Atkins pretty much carry the whole thing by themselves, whereas other sides give good stoppage minutes to 4th and 5th players at a minimum.

It reminds me of us overworking Selwood, Dangerfield and one other 2016-2021 (at different stages Ablett, Kelly, Guthrie etc). It was amazing their bodies could even withstand finals after that, and at times it showed.

Assuming nobody is a late scratching, (and Kolo doesn’t return) then this is our strongest side. I’m gonna go with Martin as the sub. Bowes, Blicavs and Mulin play mid/wing/2nd ruck. And then the obvious 7 forwards and 7 defenders.

I reckon Kolo comes back in when he's fit.

Kolo is too late to get back for this year fitness wise Guthrie (cam) is cooked and i reckon Duncan runs out of time. Bews is depth only now.
I still think henry is in a form slump but if he finds it he will get back in probably for bowes or Martin. Other than that is our finals 23 we just better hope Stanley and COS stay fit.

Bews isn't competing for martin's spot bews only comes in if they drop mullin (unlikely). Realistically it's Duncan and Martin competing for the same spot.

I think we definitely need to look for additional midfield rotation options and against Richmond there was signs that Stevens could find himself as part of that rotation

What we saw last week though was the lack of a clear second role that Stevens could readily slot into when he wasn't either starting in the guts or on the bench, and thinking that's what has worked most against him this week

So is that something he works on back in the VFL or over summer if he's re-signed to give that extra string to his bow?

Again I don't think the one position thing is the factor, because Bruhn was identical 2023-2024. Selwood 2022.

Stevens just needed to play well and unfortunately he was poor. Occam's Razor on this one for me.

In my view I don't even know what position Martin position is like you said..

We need more midfielders going through our midfield during game time and that's why I'd play him
