I noticed something in an article about Walker and his son barracking for Collingwood, that absolutely blew me away.

“One of the good things that Murray Davis has brought in is when we do our opposition analysis, we plan as if they are going to bring their best and we’ll do that this weekend,” Walker said.

What the hell were they doing previously!? Hoping and preying the opposition have an off day?

Feels like it was amateur hour previously.

We were quite open, honest and proud that we ignored what the oppo were going to do. We were about us and our way and if we played our way, we’d win. Opposition had no influence on whether we could play our way.

Davis '' thanks for the welcome guys its an honour to be among a professional group ''

Nicks ' Hey Muzz Muzza Muzzburger Muzz''

VB ' Matty matey calm down let him get sorted '

Davis '' Just a quick run through of my philosophies and ideas - I like to scope out the opposition on a Tuesday''

Chortles can be heard

' after a game day review Monday then look at team match ups ' (chortle) ' what whats so funny '

VB ' opposition match ups OMG man listen to you - we are stacked effin stacked ''

Nicks ' we don need no steenkin opposition analysees '

Hombsch quietly sobbing in the corner

Davis ' but how do you expect to win if you dont prepare '

Nicks ' we try harderer for longerer with the same players each week '

Wouldn't surprise me if Murray Davis is a senior coach in the next five years. He has a good coaching resume as it stands. Took the NT Thunder to a NEAFL premiership, assistant under Fages at Brisbane, and now the turn around he has played a role in at Adelaide. The fact he never played AFL is really the only thing that might go against him, but it shouldn't.
Alot of the top NBL and NFL coaches in the states never played at the highest level either.

He was asked on FiveAA if he would consider the Melbourne head coaching job if offered, and he basically said "hell yeah".

Certainly has earned his shot should a side want him as a coach.

Hopefully he has to wait until 2027 though ;)

Wonder if that was always the plan/ how we sold it to him - getting a second club on his resume
Possibly.

Brisbane may have won the flag but he was still a relative nobody. Come to Adelaide and hes been a part of an enormous turnaround.

its fine if we lose Davis.

We've got the AFL coach of the year.
Is it really that hard to give Nicks some credit for what he's achieved in 2025?

Good thing on Murray Davis in the Age today:

1. His partner is the Lions AFLW football boss (she might move here)
2. We tried to get him the year before too
3. “When the two teams played each other in the 2025 pre-season, the Lions players noted their Crows’ opponents had adopted a significant number of their team terminologies and plays.”

thanks, good article. The Age normally allows one freebie article per mth for non subscribers I think (otherwise just delete cache/internet browsing history if you have already used your first article up and then go again!)

Do we have anyone lined up for the AFLW coaching spot?
