Hopefully has some insight in to the Lions and how they want to play. Wouldn’t be opposed to sending a Peatling type to sit on McCluggage, he’s so important to what they do.

Nailed that one. What u got for next week?

Kudos, a very good call. I didn't know much about about his coaching credentials, but he's impressed me massively
Is that him sitting next to Nicks in the box? Nicks keeps looking towards him before making a call. Almost looks like Nicks is asking permission.

Yes that would be him. Well if Nicks understands that then good.

Hopefully he doesn't leave after 2 years when Nicks thinks he's got it under control.

Can only hope he's nowhere near this.

Oh Davis fingerprints are all over this one, much like Nicks (and the rest of the coaches)

Selections are the same, no matter where you go. The only thing that matters is next week, so the depth chart (or "next man up") reigns supreme. Once you're knocked out of finals you may see the occasional decision about the future, but they're rare without a catastrophic season.

And that's absolutely fine, but how on earth is Murphy the next man up?

I guess the only way we can fix this is by more good trades at the end of the year.

My guess (hope) is they'll shift Pedlar and Rachele up into CB more and move Murphy into his patented non statistical forward role.

I'd love to see those 2 get more CB time

Because Taylor failed, and Pedlar is already in the side. Plus, you can trust Murphy to be a solid warm body and reliable depth (seeing he'll pick up 11 disposals/14 pressure acts/2.5 tackles).

We're pretty much at the bottom of the barrel with small/half forward depth. At least that nonsense around dropping Tex for a small in the wet will abate now.

It’ll be a bit of Rachele, but mainly ANB, I think. The latter got quite a bit of CBA time last year for the Dees, and came third in their B&F

I hope we don’t move Rachele too far from the forward line, we can’t afford to lose too much scoring power

I think I posted how the last time Murphy played all our scoring options dried up

Lets hope this isnt the case here

We kicked 14 goals last time Murphy played and that was away against a top side.

TT kicked 5, Walker 4 and FOG 3. Think the forward line played fine.

I mean - Murphy didn't contribute anything to it and went completely missing in the 4th quarter game (yet again) and we lost by 1 point.

We had 8 goal kickers the week before with Soligo and Keays , ANB Draper and Curtin all scoring goals

The week before we had 12 goalkickers with Soligo Keays Sholl Milera ANB Hinge Rankine and Curtin scoring goals along with the 3 you named

The game I mentioned we had 5 with none from Keays Soligo ANB Curtin or Draper - I would expect the 3 you named to kick goals

Spin it how you want but our structure changed and our scoring dried up

Murphy replaced Rachele that game

Technically we’re weakening our midfield, but if we move ANB to mid and keep Rachele mostly forward our structure isn’t affected too much (except for our fwd defensive pressure)

My Murphy chagrin is more towards not giving youth a chance

C'mon. The first three games were complete and utter destructions of 2 weakened teams (Saints/Essendon) and a perennially shit team North.

The number of goal kickers is always bigger in absolute thrashings. Its like arguing we were a better side offensively in 2024 because in our drubbings against North and West Coast we had 12 and 13 goal kickers.

You are accusing me of spinning it?

We played a top 4 team on the road and scored 90 bloody points and kicked 14 goals. There is no way to spin it that our scoring dried up.

Look Murphy sucks. He probably cost us that game by being invisible in the last quarter yet again. But to think he changes our structure completely and our scoring dried up because of him is laughable at best.
