I think Lyon knows if Saints don't make finals next year he will be moved on. And this will probably be his last crack at a senior coaching gig in the AFL. So he is willing to throw money around like a lunatic to get some experienced players ready to plug and play.

I don't want Ryan to go. But at the same time i wouldn't trust him enough to give him a long term contract. I have a feeling he might start taking it easy once the contract was signed.

Why? He currently doesn’t offer anything to us. He isn’t a midfielder, he isn’t a consistent forward anymore, he has no defensive efforts.. sell while we still can

Because he is a WC player and given us great service AND a major part of the team for younger players ....IF we keep losing them it's like the cupboards bare. 🐻

Theyre on about a last disposal rule(presumably just inbetween the arcs) and changing ruck rules to let ruckmen jump more.
Less throw ins, less ruckmen crashing into eachother.

Would make the big bodied ruckmen less useful, a jumping ruckman who can play forward more useful, and a KPD who can ruck the go from here. Potentially a super mobile jumping ruckman who can play around the ground as a sort of midfielder becomes far more valuable too.

BW for 2026 as our main CBA ruckman? Archer as our D50 ruckman? Flynn pushed back to the WAFL?
A tall/big body midfielder who can do some ruck work a target for clubs now?(BW does the CBA, then goes forward letting the extra mid do the rest of the rucking around the centre portion of the ground)

In the same numpty class as Hardie and Sumich - don’t take much note of anything he has to say
Ah the man who brought us his Harley Vibes:

“I’m just feeling at the moment that he maybe is looking beyond this year and I think he will not be a West Coast Eagles player in 2026.”

Didn’t realise we were discussing comments from that fu(ktard. Carry on.

Just got absolutely mauled in the Pies trade thread for asking about Bobby Hill’s value given the draft hands of Freo and West Coast. If he does get moved back to WA I think we’ll see a LOT of angry Pies fans

Trades I’d be pushing for in a Ryan / St Kilda deal…

Hawks 1st + Ryan for Saints first

Ryan + F2 for Wilson

Ryan for Steele

Ryan + F4 for 44 + F2

This could be perfect, Ryan to the Pies to hang with Maynard, Hill to WC.
Straight swap.

Jesus christ....how about they just enforce the f**king rules we already have properly instead of changing things every 2 seconds

Hill's similar to Bolton when he was a tiger, need the right players around them.
Bolton is a far away a better played that leagues above. Hill had a great Gf and deserved the Norm but all his hype has been post Norm. He averages 10 disposals and his best season return is 33 goals. He isn’t kicking that many at the Eagles.

There’s truly none of our players you even slightly like, is there.

Is he worth bringing home? Seems a liability atm
Definitely right now, but you’d hope that being back in WA and being able to see his kids and family, and continue his career could help. I suppose we’ll see, but I’d take a shot if it didn’t cost the world.

He is an absolute liability back in WA. I wouldn't be touching Hill or Collard for that matter with a 10 foot pole. I am heavily involved with the development of Indigenous development here in WA and happen to know a lot of the families and what goes on.

(The issue with Collard is not him as a player but by what he would return to and other peoples expectations of him here in WA)

To be fair I wouldn’t be taking Collard under any circumstances. The Graham issue really sucked and I don’t want those attitudes anywhere near or associated with our club

Collard has done absolutely nothing on field that I’ve seen to justify getting excited about. Might be a late developer but he seems rather spudly to me.

The lasso "last touch" rule is a horrible horrible rule.
I wish nothing but ill will on those proposing it for the AFL.

It’s basically what they’re doing now with “insufficient intent”. May as well make it official.

Why do we want to make our game more like soccer? Yuck.
Poor rules and interpretations doesn't warrant making the rules worse again.
