I hope we are not assuming that St Kilda are as reasonable as us and will make a fair offer. There are no rules and no honour or integrity amongst clubs at Trade Week anymore. It is a free for all and the club needs to get a ballpark offer from the Saints nailed down now before this goes any further. And if they won't commit to one then shut it down and tell Ryan we are going to hold him to his contract. I am not against trading out an ageing player but i am against giving a quality best 22 player away for peanuts.

I reckon Ah Chee is meh tbh.

Just like his bald mate Starcevich (Pat, plz come back), i'd be happy to pass.
I hardly watch oppo games any more but his number are shocking and he seems to be missing in most brissy games I watch. Ryan does too but at least Ryans best (start of the year) is immensely better than Ah chees

Ah Chee is sick, would gladly have him.

IF the league gives us end of first round compo, which would be like somewhere in the mid, almost late 20's I wouldn't mind exchanging that for him since it's a pick we never had to begin with.

How the Saints get Ryan's gonna be an interesting one, their second pick is pick 44...and that's BEFORE all the academy and father/son selections which will no doubt push that pick out into the 50's...Sainters better start getting creative.

What’s a word that’s about 3x more than just ‘overs’

He’s contracted and a required player. They get back the first pick of round 2 which is valuable in itself and will have clubs coming after it.

They get Ryan for a pick downgrade in the players available in the open pool.

Lyon obviously thinks he has the cake for a flag tilt & now wants the cream so I can see them paying up.

Massive similarities between Ah Chee's and Bennell's hair-line IMO. Worrying stuff.

It might move lower as teams like Suns will have to use multiple picks in the 20s for points.

They’ve got their eyes on Greeves or one of a myriad of incredibly talented KPF with pick 8. They won’t move it. F1 maybe, but not 8. Unfortunately I think it’s likely we just take a F2 or something of that sort. I’d do Ryan and F2 for F1. Yes I know it’s basically the same thing but they’ll believe like you said they’ve got a flag push. Basically trading Ryan to take 1 and 8-12 into the 2026 draft.

Would hate to loose Ryan be a great role model for the nga kids. Coming on also close to harley the return wouldn't ve worth trading foe

the saints draft hand will change with Aleer, Windhager, Steele, etc as potential movers.

Theyll have somethng else

Ralphy on MWT saying the Saints offer is 3years plus a trigger for a 4th year. Around $650k a year.

Will only move for a 3+ year deal.

Could’ve been Port if they landed Nas.

Bombers offering 2years plus a trigger for a 3rd year.

And RTB is talking about how they will be playing hard ball with Marshall if teams come for him. Well they will also have to be prepared to pay up when you go for contracted players too.

When was the last time “good will” actually got us something valuable?

It gets us the occasional favourable pick swap in the second or third round (Port handing us a free second rounder comes to mind).

But if we’re waiting for teams to help us out because we were generous with them then we’ll get nowhere. Time to be a bit more forceful at the trade table, it’ll benefit us much more long term.

Even the clubs weak response of "he's a required player" on a social media account is annoying. Many of the people running the club are completely divorced and remote from how the supporter base feels. We have been being laughed at by the rest of the comp for quite a while now for being weak and being the worst performing club at the trade table.

Last year was another brick in that wall. We got ripped off in both the Barass and Baker trades. Now we have a basket case Melbourne club poaching a contracted premiership player. There should be a much stronger response from the club that shows some fight. Even if we are privately conceding that he wants to go and we will likely trade him make a statement that gives demoralised supporters some hope that we are not going to get bent over again and will fight very aggressively for a favourable trade.

Imagine Adelaide fretting over bidding on JUH with Pick 1. They did it, then drafted Thilthorpe, watched JUH implode, and will now finish on top.

If we don't bid on at least two players with Pick 1 we're still the same marshmallows we've been for years regardless of the off-field changes.

If we continue to hold the perception of being a 'nice club to deal with', we will continue to get picked off.

Both Barrass and Allen have been targeted due to our situation. Both were VC / C.

Could we have retained both, very likely. However we would have been forced to pay well overs in terms of contract dollars and length to give them the security Hawks and Brisbane have offered.

The same case is now happening with Ryan and Stk. If you come for a contracted player, be prepared..
