He's a 40 goal a season forward currently. Well ahead of where OA & Waterman were at the same age.

He’s never kicked 40 goals in a season - career best was 37 from 26 games in 2024 in a team that dominated

Currently, as in this season, he’s a zero goal a season forward as he didn’t play a game

Trading for McDonald would be daft

You rate McDonald for having a goodish year in a side who finished on top, and then called Chad Warner a B grader and said he only had a good year in 2024 because he was in a good side.

Ok.......

Im not saying I want him. Just that he's not the worst player. AFL standard for sure.
Year long injuries are something to avoid.
Plus we have plenty of KPF options already.

His best year has been 37 goals, and that with him being the number 1 kpf in the most dominant team of the h&a season, with the best midfield delivering to him. Allen kicked 28 in his fourth year, in a mid table team, with both Darling and Kennedy as higher priority targets.

I'm not saying he's a spud or anything, but he's not really shown that he's up to being the big dog - hence why Sydney have interest in Curnow.

End of the day, KPF is probably our strongest position at the moment, so we really shouldn't be looking to bring any more in unless they're seriously ****ing good.

Corrrct same- same , and McDonald is purely an average player right now with a little bit of natural improvement still to come.
Warner has already peaked.

But its not crazy to think he could be top 10 Coleman over the next few seasons or at least put out what Brody Mihocek does.

I'd rather spend $$$ elsewhere ( in the draft) as we have plenty of options for KPF already.

*in a good, grand final quality side with an elite midfield hes a 40 goal a year forward.

Hes pretty average when you watch him

how on earth have we ended up linked to McDonald... Absolute clogger for our list, not even slightly what we need. I'd consider a fair few Sydney players in a trade obviously, they're miles better than us, but it would have to be 2 of their best 15-18 players + a future first and maybe even more for 2.

edit: obviously its warner or nothing but speaking as if that isnt on the table

37 goals in 26 games in 2024, missed all of this year. He is mid. Oscar was third banana and was foolishly used as second ruck in 2021. Maybe there is improvement to come but I'm not seeing it to be honest.

Unless the discussion starts to move in the Warner direction they can jog on and find their currency for Curnow elsewhere.

KPF take a good 4-5 years to get going and that's without any setbacks.

As far as "gettable" talls coming in: Jed Walter is in the same bracket of not ready yet, GC would be reluctant to let him go.
Georgiades has hit the mark and would be $$$ from Port.
Curtin is more of a Jack Watts style flanker than KPP.
Jamarra is busy playing real life GTA6
Cunow & McKay would be in win now mode. (Curnow has a dodgy injury history- we should avoid)

Wilkie is one who I'd get in the ear of. Saints are shaking things up and would be handy if cheap. If not, Dougle Howard is in the Ross Lyon doghouse.

At the moment I am rather torn going into this off-season. I'd like to take 1, 2, and 7 into the draft. Trade 13, 22, 32 to GC for 7, the points difference being approx. pick 24 added (600ish), push hard for Flanders and settle for Davies. Attempt to get Steele out of Saints with a boat load of cash and Ryan. Pick up Jacob Blight ala Brock DFA. Pick up one of Reidy, Heath, or Knobel as a back up ruck. Draft Duursma, Sharp and the BPA at 7. Dodge Starcevich and Ah Chee, play the kids instead.

I've been keen on Trent Rivers for years. Melbourne played him at center bounce in their last game towards the end. Possibly window shopping but he's a natural footballer with some burst. Pretty shallow draft. If he's keen to come home would Melbourne take our 2nd rounder, which is pick 23+?

Logan is a good player but Shanahan is one of the best prospects we have had in years. I’d rather just continue investing in him with a partnership with Waterman.

I'm sold on Sam Cumming in this draft. He's physical and I think he's more talented, cleaner with his disposal in traffic than Sharp. Some of his highlights with North Adelaide bursting from clearance and then hitting the right option were elite. And then nailing set shot goals from 50m as well. Could be the Bailey Humphries of this draft.

Why are we talking about McDonald? Is there information somewhere that Sydney are shopping him to us or that they are looking to trade with us for pick 2? Or is this just a random thing somebody threw up on the Board that has sparked pages of debate?

Theyd be after the hawks 1st.

How do they get it

Tbh i dont think any of those guys you mentioned are gettable, other than Howard or maybe Walter if he asks(unlikely).

Happy enough to just go Blight or something as KPD depth and carry on developing our own talls.

If Pyke is pondering splitting pick 2 to bring in mature talent then it would be interesting to see who they have in mind to buy at the trade table. I have not seen us linked with any players in the trade rumour articles that would justify splitting pick 2 to get them. Most of the guys linked to us are players who can't get a guaranteed spot in the 22 when fit at their current club.

He's not a mid so makes sense that he's linked to us

I've always thought Logan Mcdonald was meh.

Something about him, he lacks intensity and is just a soft gumby or something. Bit like Taberner MKII.

Jed Walter on the other hand.... just missed his teams a huge win to lock away a maiden final, which he will also be left out of.

Its your last sentence

1 : Dyson Sharp
2: ? Split
11: Jacob Farrow
19: Harley Barker
30 : Sam Swadling
F/S : Banfield
NGA : Evans Walley? Williams?

Would love to take Cameron Nairn and Zac McCarthy somehow as well.
