Lyon won't last the season.

There is guaranteed to be some discontent in the playing group about the money being paid to the possible imports. It will require some serious man management and people skills to get that smoothed over and stop it bleeding over into poor onfield attitudes from the legacy players. And i don't think Lyon is the man for the job when you need to inspire people and get them to put their own personal interests and ego aside for the greater good. In fact, Lyon has such low emotional and social intelligence that he probably still won't even realise that this is going to be a problem that he will need to deal with.

Boyd and JHF the only examples I can think of, and they were both homesick pick 1s.

I don’t think it’s likely either. But I’d talk to James and try and convince him that better cash and a clearer path to AFL football would be in his best interest.

No idea if Saints would accept that deal but seems to tick a lot of boxes.

Agree with you and Mig that it’s unlikely, but we still need to ask for what suits our list given we’d also be trading a contracted and allegedly required player.

If we can convince the player to come over then the Saints really don’t have a leg to stand on given they’ve obviously been courting our own contracted player.

If my salary is getting doubled, I’m leaving a non finalist that looks to be stuck in mid table purgatory and I can get out of Melbourne then probably pretty high.

Will depend on how we sell it and what we offer to the player. There is absolutely no reason we shouldn’t approach him or any other player for that matter that we feel will improve the list.

Unfortunately, we have only been seriously linked to a mid sized defender.

Last year we were linked to Baker and Graham from a long way out.

Not looking good atm for added midfield and ruck support. Maybe more targets will be revealed after finals?

2R pick, two year mandatory contract, has signed a one year extension into 2027 that we can alter however we deem appropriate. Not sure if we can interfere with his year 2 salary regardless of shifting clubs.

His stats look like they do because of how Sandringham (STK) have used him playing deep. He’s a CHB IMO and should be playing further up the ground.

I don’t think that’s selling the farm I think it’s a fair trade both ways. stallon put it well a couple of posts above.

This is the likelihood. It’s poor form to splash another players name around when they are still competing.

I think itd be a very good deal.

Barrat is 1 year into his career and is very speculative, but he'd be just as good as an actual top 20 pick this year tbh, similar value to Ryan if you prefer to think of it that way.
Then its 13+32 for 8

Either way its a pretty reasonable deal for us at worst.
