Just had a peek of the Freo board and jeepers the coping on there at the moment is something else.

They just lost a home final to a lower-placed side with zero finals experience in front of a packed Fremantle crowd, and the overwhelming sentiment is “the boys had a real crack”, “oh well, there’s always next year” and “we wouldn’t have won the flag anyway”.

A genuine loser club and it infiltrates right down to the fan base.

Nah, today will be all about "Oh we're proud of the boys, great effort" despite what should've been a stomping of a win on their home deck against a first time ever finals side. Absolutely choked.

My particularly favourite comment was "we were never going to win it without Shitkowski and Wagner out". Shitkowski leaves them without a bit of forward pressure yet they still had Bolton and Frederick who should've covered him. But Wagner? LoL that spud wouldn't get a run in our side. I will say seeing Banfield continually get a run for them really does make me smile every time I see him out there.

On this point, when we scraped an extra time win over Port in 2017 Elimination Final, it proved more valuable than we thought. Sure, we got thumped the next week at GWS, but it taught them how to win a close final and probably helped give us an edge in the close finals we played in 2018.

Always better to win a final than not, folks. Sure, you may not have won the flag that year, but finals intensity is what your club needs to get used to.

My partners family are Freo tragics.

I actually went to the 2003 final vs Essendon with them. This was Freos 1st ever final and Essendon embarrassed them winning by 40 odd points.

At the end of the game as the players were walking of the crowd that remained started the dumb FREO chant, like they were winners some how. I was chuckling to myself

On the drive home, all my FIL would talk about the game was how proud of the team he was and what a great day it was to be a Freo fan
