In defence of Ochre,
It's why you see players kill the ball even post siren back in or mark it. If it crosses the line even post touch or siren it counts.

Justice for the '16 grand final? What's with the farcical free kick count in that match?
Lots of very sloppy tackling from the Purps. What's with the farcical free kick count in that match?
Incorrect disposal is my biggest gripe with the afl rules .Probably mentioned already, but when Swallow was tackled he had possession of the ball and dropped it as a result of the tackle - that's holding the ball, free kick to Freo!
There's no way he was tackled after disposing of the ball, or without the ball.
Shows how bad the umpiring can be in a high stakes game.
Every goal is reviewed anyway, so likely it would've been called back regardless.
Anyway I think Erasmus (?) was appealing for touched instinctively and would've been important if GC took a grab in the goal square.
Clear free kick but I do think Cox was unlucky with how it played out. Swallow got there first, half took possession then the ball spills out and Cox has already committed to the tackle. Clear free kick but not really much else he could’ve done.Probably mentioned already, but when Swallow was tackled he had possession of the ball and dropped it as a result of the tackle - that's holding the ball, free kick to Freo!

Cox really didn't have any other option but as tough and sometimes annoying as it is that kick gets paid 90% of the time,Clear free kick but I do think Cox was unlucky with how it played out. Loser attitude.‘In some ways, maybe my journey was more important for me not to win than to win.’
Great career, but some elite copium from Fyfe to finish.
This is why I'm an advocate for having the countdown clock on display at the game. I surely think that players have a right to know how long is left in a game, so they can make decisions accordingly.Other factor is players don't know how much time is left. Them getting a behind vs them getting a goal, in theory you want the first scenario to try and win the game rather than try to get a draw.
Same reason fans at the ground cheered when the goal was over turned, they didn't know it was only 9 seconds on the clock and the worse situation for them.
Swallow didn't really take posession. Wise head drew the free kick. Not like Freo weren't gifted some free kicks in the come back run.

Many thanks for this. It has already served me well.
And on the decision for Treacy to drop back inside defensive 50. Mac Andrew followed him, and turns out he's a much better forward than Treacy is a defender. No blame with how that last behind played out, it's the goal before that where blame can be placed firmly on the Freo defence.
Where? Sounds like my type of pub
