We are all impatient to see some improvement. But what if our recruiters just genuinely don’t rate this draft and are super keen on next year. If we had a crystal ball and there was a Harley/Daicos/Ashcroft waiting for us next year or we would end up with a Will Phillips or Zane Duursma this year, then we would all be happy to wait.

But it’s a hard sell without knowing, and a big gamble as we’ve seen with Hawks picks this year ending up worse than anticipated. Would have to be a team we are certain will finish bottom four next year which is pretty much Richmond.
First 2 picks might be off the board next year if they don’t change the FS, NGA rules.

That weakens it a fair bit already. Will be very interesting to see how that plays out.

fanciful thinking that Neale would come to us so late in his career, unless he has coaching aspirations
If he retired in 2 years and was wishing to get into coaching and back in WA both teams would be all over it anyway.

The driving force you’d think would be to get back to WA? Are his kids school age ect? Plenty of reasons for this as he has weighted it up before apparently.

Next would be to maybe get some extra $$ before he retires. I reckon we would go close to $800k more over the 2 season than the Lions would. OOC end of 2026 and doubt the Lions would be offering big coin after that.

Next would likely be coaching, post career. Very well connected club.

If he is wanting to get back I reckon Freo would be his first preference but if they aren’t keen?

Legend has it, if you say ‘Mitch McGovern’ in the mirror three times Ryan Gosling appears

If Brisbane want the last year of Lachie neales big contract off the books they need to pay us IMO .

It more in their interest than ours and the risk is all on us aswell .

No extra years on the contract . 1 year then coaching .

Give us neale and starcivich for 50 and f4

Happy to have him as a coach after he finishes also

We are going to suck next year too .

If their is a gun we will still get him with our own 1st

This can't be serious....

Club land isn't anywhere near that advanced in trade. Ignoring the obvious stupidity.

Club didn't even settle on Harley (most obvious pick 1) until after the draft combine and interviewing him.

Talked to someone close to the club who has good mail, sounds like Pick 1 for an F1 next year. Pick 2 to Carlton for 10 and 21. 10 on Farrow and 21 for Starcevich. Motlop maybe involved.

Some of the replies to this post reminds me of why so many people believed Phil 😩🤦‍♂️

Can someone please fill me in (no pun intended) on the story with this Phil bloke.

I saw Phil at a grocery store in Patong years back. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person and I was huge fan of his recruiting abilities, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face, then he threatend to out me in a sleeper-hold. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

The girl at the counter should have been Nisbett or Matty Clarke. P1ss poor and well short of your usual level.

Conversely, if they do change the rules and clubs can’t match bids inside the top 10 for example then those early picks start looking highly valuable

I heard the club was doing this trade with Brisbane.

Pick 2 and Hawks first out.
Starcevich, Neal, Robertson and achee and Brisbane's second rounder in.

If Neale wanted to come and play in the west and the opportunity was there, I’d take it in a heartbeat. Imagine how damaging Reid could be with someone capable of feeding it out to him? His hands in right are elite.

Perfect on field coach and someone to build on standard setting we started last preseason with Mini coming in. He’s someone that has left no stone unturned in his career.

Seems unlikely, though.

I've never said Graham was that good, but he was 100% a midfielder for us this year.
4th in the comp for tackles per game. Definitely a mid and probably would have won our B&F if not for the silly mistake of reading the cover of led zeppelin 4 out loud.
