About as stupid as people who realistically think will get a 2nd rounder for him, what did we have to give up for for SPS?
SPS was delisted wasn’t he or not offered a deal? Chesser had a contract in front of him.

But agreed we ain’t getting much

Chess has pretty much played seniors when fit whereas SPS was mostly out of the team and think he had a season or two extra at the the Blues than Chess with us

All I’m saying is it will be a similar compensation. Getting a 2nd round pick or a pick upgrade with the hawthorn pick is just not going to happen.

I just hope the club turns a corner and playes had ball with all leavers to leverage the best for the club. No more mr nice club almost helping players leave at our loss.

I've spent several minutes puzzling out this brain teaser.

You're right in terms of reality but really think we should tell Chess that if Carlton want you they need to give us fair compensation, otherwise you stay with us (or walk to the draft, I think it's unlikely as it's not like we haven't treated him well, unlike a partington or O'Neil etc). I think we are perfectly entitled to do so, if Carlton was offering a significantly better contract I think we'd have no leg to stand on. But we obviously value him and have given him every opportunity we possibly can.

Absolutely we can say that but at the end of the day we will let him go for what they give us , we are not going to play hardball or risk relationships with player association and Carlton over Campbell Chesser šŸ˜‚

Disloyal and ungrateful. Don't accept Carlton's first offer.

That's fair and you're right I'm sure but really don't see why Chesser would object to us holding out for something decent for him. We've treated a lot of young players pretty badly over a number of years but he certainly doesn't fall into that category. Just struggle to see why we couldn't convince him to stay if the deal didn't suite us, but I'm living in a fantasy land I guess.

Pick 52. SPS was a proven spud at that point though after 80 games and not sure Carlton wanted him anymore. Chesser is still a required player for us.

We won’t get much more than that
Is its a pick like that we have very little use for, let him go into the PSD and run the gauntlet of going to Norf.

He was classed as a required player at Carlton he was offered a new contract. I do agree with you Chesser probably has slightly more upside now on what SPS had when we traded him in, but all I’m saying is the compensation people are talking about is just way off the mark.

If this is Chesser for Hollands... I'm mortified. If it's Chesser for something else. I'm ok with Wilson, Lord or Moir coming the other way. Their first might be good too.
Lord would be pretty handy

No it doesn’t you dope, the algorithm deliberately gets a reaction from the user by showing them extremes of opposite opinion. Seems it’s worked šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Pretty fair to think Acres might be involved in this, though I’d hope we don’t give up much in return if it is

Victoria provides the largest pool of AFL players and Perth is the furthest city from Victoria. Young players want to go home is always the negativity to the AFL wanting the recruiting to be nationalised.
Currently, AFL did nothing to make this fair for WA clubs. (and Chesser's case could be an example). The Eagles should raise this to AFL, especially in our 2025 assistant packages.
Note: I suggest clubs losing players because of the "go home" reason should be compensated with pick advantages. (High draft pick for their home state players for example)

Bro. No. Don’t be that ****ing gullible.

It's rather amusing how we are all more devastated about losing Chesser than someone of Liam Ryans quality but that's the gut punch when rebuilding for the future.

So let's hope the Eagles can get something that assists us with that rebuild for both of these players.

*Yeah, you know we're going to get shafted.
