So its fanciful.....unless he wants to earn more money in the AFL system as a player 》 coach.

Which isnt fanciful at all.
I think the most fanciful thing is expecting us to get two seasons out him when he has had injury problems at Brisbane, who have a track record of getting injury prone players fit...just like us...oh wait

I’m starting to cop it from my freo mates, I did give them a bit of stick the last couple years about players leaving, suppose I probably deserve it😬

They got over Saturday night that quick?

If you think the Dons will be trading up, I cannot see them doing it for pick 2. Reading the tea leaves, Duursma is the only prospect likely to generate the picks worthy of trading back from 1. I can see the Dons and even Tigers wanting him and having picks worthy of sliding.

If posters want the 2 Drug Rats R1 picks, I believe it will only be on offer for Duursma and not CTD.

IF that deal is done, it might be enough to off 1 and the Hawks R2 and R3 for 5 and 6. Dons need points for their 2 NGA prospects.

The situation would change if they get band 1 compo for Draper. That would leave them with 5 6 and 7. In that scenario, I would be tempted to push for 5 6 7 and their F1 for 1 and 2. Not likely to be a popular view but so be it.

At 5 6 and 7, I'd expect Dons take Duursma and CDT at 1 and 2. Tigers take Cumming and Lindsay. Leaving us with Sharp, Schubert and ??? We get in Sharp a blue collar inside mid we really need. In Schubert we get him as the Gov replacement until Waterman retires and then we shift him forward. I' d look at March, Grlj or Greeves as 7 with the Hawks R1 being for Barker of Phillipou.

Importantly in 2026, we have a top 3 pick and a top 6 - 10 pick which hopefully has better rules for not matching.
I'm open to the idea of trading 1 + 2 for 5, 6, 7 + F1 but I don't think Essendon goes there. There's also a real risk that Richmond take both of Sharp and Cumming instead of Cumming and Lindsay.

Going back to your previous post, threatening Carlton with a bid on Dean to get their TDK compo also opens up the possibility of trading 1 to Richmond for 3 & 4 by flipping them the TDK compo. That might sound crazy but that would be right in the hitting zone for Grlj. They might want something slightly better for security but I think they'd at least pick up the phone. If such a trade went through, we would have 2, 3 + 4 before we even think about anyone else coming in or out.

… for Campbell Chesser leaving?

lol lads really?

they lost to the Suns at home ffs.

Oof, a bit of talent going out of a 1 win historically awful team:

  • McGovern ❌
  • Allen ❌
  • Ryan ❌
  • Sheed ❌
  • Chesser️ ❌

Huge draft and trade period to keep us from being even shitter next season

Outside of Gov the others have done nothing for 4 years. So basically not losing much other than Gov

Even though I think he's a dud and his career will be over after this next contract from Carlton finishes...

Chesser is a pink booted spray tan little flog. Imagine walking out on the club right now after all the times they've backed him in and given him priority to develop in the senior side.

Such a burnt selection from that draft. Hope the club plays hard ball and salvages something from wasting pick 13.
I like this take.....

It's not great to lose Chesser, but it's not the end of the world.

We are currently going through the lowest of lows as a club, and if the only players to leave are Allen (beneficial), Ryan and Chesser. I think we will be ok and shows we are pretty good at player retention. We will start trending upwards soon!
