List Mgmt. Welcome Campbell Chesser (Pick 14, 2021 National Draft)

The problem is Carlton have a bunch of players much better than Chesser they won't be willing to trade and a bunch of players that are massive spuds that we don't want, and no draft picks of equal value. And I'm unsure of a player that they have of equal value.

So we're going to end up with either a spud, and/or a nothing pick.

Good times.
Then we look at pick upgrades or next year.

I wouldn’t be averse to their next year picks at all. They are deluded and think they are in a flag window and it’s bullshit they’re in a rebuild….

Disappointing. Thought he'd quickly have more upside than Hall (for example) who surprisingly won an award at the club gong show. Not much loyalty for a club who stuck by him in hard times, but that's footy. "The Eagles invested heavily in Chesser and extended his initial contract by two years halfway through 2022 when he was recovering from a serious ankle injury that wiped out his debut season.." -WCE Press.

He played 36 games from 3 seasons.
Seems going back to Vic was also a factor, can't blame him for that.
Could've been, might've been, will never know, a 50/50 or 60/40 chance of being reliable, consistent, uninjured and good? Will suck if he becomes a gun at Blues.

Hope we at least get a decent return for him.
Maybe we should feel sorry for him going to Carlton?

It's rather amusing how we are all more devastated about losing Chesser than someone of Liam Ryans quality but that's the gut punch when rebuilding for the future.

So let's hope the Eagles can get something that assists us with that rebuild for both of these players.

*Yeah, you know we're going to get shafted.
Ryan won’t be part of our next flag….

Interested to know what's behind his decision if the reports of similar contract offers are accurate. "Homesickness" wouldnt sound like the same kid who was so keen to get over here when he was drafted that he drove across the country and spent Xmas in covid quarantine.

Maybe the body struggles have got to him and he simply wants a fresh start, but he wasn't one I would have picked to want a trade.

Real shame because we're going to get very little in return.

Agreed, didn’t think he was a flight risk.

Body struggles? Blues probably wouldn’t be the club to go to.

Maybe didn’t feel the love with no offer and seemed frustrated playing wafl if you listen to his manager. Eagles were fair to wait on both of those things and probably got an AFL this year before his form demanded because we wanted to look at him.

Go and take your shit chat about another country’s irrelevant politics elsewhere 😂😂
Not to keep feeding the dunce, but I was giving context, you’re not even arguing my views. Did you miss the part where I said I own a ****ing Tesla?

Try using your eyes.

Anyway.

How does Elon Musk feel about Campbell Chesser? Let’s ask Grok, his AI.

“No direct evidence shows Elon Musk’s stance on Campbell Chesser’s trade request to Carlton. His libertarian views, favoring individual choice and free markets, might support Chesser’s agency. Musk could critique AFL bureaucracy as restrictive, aligning with his anti-establishment rhetoric, but he hasn’t commented on this specific issue.”

His form at the Beagles didnt look to warrant selection at all, then to come in and perform admirably just provides more alarm bells for the environment were providing for guys to develop in the 2s. Massive issue we need to fix urgently and I hope it's close to priority number 1 in the long list of problems to fix.

Harry Dean is being projected as a top 10 pick, which means the TDK compo is likely going to be eaten up.
Wonder if there's some way extract that from them?

Chesser + Hawks R2 & for TDK compo
Then on draft night trade Hawks R1 to them for their R2.

Makes it Chesser + 13 + 31 + for 8 + 34. But removes them from the first round on draft night so they can use later picks to bring in Dean.

*If I'm not mistaken, we can't trade back the TDK compo to Carlton of draft night.

I think it’ll almost certainly be a player swap, Carlton just don’t have/ won’t give up picks to give us what we need

Would wet myself if we got Cooper Lord - not gonna happen. (🚫:sweatdrops::sunglasses:)
Really rate him, glad he got a bit more mid exposure to round out the season.
It'd be a curious fit for us though - is basically Elijah Hewett.

I can understand Ryan wanting to leave, hopefully for a better deal and more success. It's still sad to see him go but 2018, that mark will always be remembered. Now Chesser wanting to leave leaves a bad taste, a bit like Rioli, we support him through his injuries and the first chance he gets he jumps ship.

If he wasn't another wasted pieman first round pick I think most people's reaction would be meh.
Has shown some glimpses but still very inconsistent, even in the last 4 weeks of the season that some people were raving over
I think it’s mostly fomo.
Reality is he was mostly poor in the wafl and even in his best 4 weeks with us to end the season he had his typical MIA periods for 2 quarters of a game.

I’d prefer we kept him, but it’s not moving the dial on our rebuild let’s be real. Should we take duursma I much prefer he gets mins over chess.

All that being said I want the club to be pricks this off season and make it hard on Carlton and saints.

I think out of context that makes sense. In context, he played for a team where the only two consistent players finished 1st and 2nd in the bnf. Harley finished third and I don't think many would describe his season as consistent. Liam Ryan finished 7th.

The truth is four half decent games at West Coast puts you in the top 15 players and an automatic selection.
