For those suggesting "walk him to the PSD" that's not what that means.
He would just nominate for the National Draft and Carlton could very likely take him with pick 44.
This x1000What do you think Nick Gieschen (manager of Chesser and Harley) would think of that?

We could take him with pick 1. He then goes onto the list with another 2 yr contract at rookie wages. For those suggesting "walk him to the PSD" that's not what that means.

A lot of their points will get wiped out when matching Dean. For those suggesting "walk him to the PSD" that's not what that means.

Essendon wouldAlso very unlikely any other club would take him tbh
Hes not that good
All G. Can-do Duncan will come over & give us Geelong's IP for managing players with behavioural issues.Hollands with a bunch of strict controls?
Pretty cooked idea tbh. The Blues knew his history, everyone did and still they tried and failed to keep him on the straight and narrow playing alongside his younger brother.
Doubt any big club has a chance with him. Needs to be a minnow club in the middle of nowhere like Fold Coast or GWS.
Giants have form with Jesse kick flipping his car and Stringer being a legitimate rock spider![]()

Not to mention Ginbey - he’ll be urinating all over Northbridge!Must say, given the whispers pre draft around Hewetts ‘antics’, I’m thinking a Hollands type could well send him off the rails a bit. Just think he’s too big of a distraction for our young crew, but you take a Hollands over Chesser on ability every day of the week.

We would have to threaten to use the Hawk's second on him, we would lose that plus whatever they offer us. If I was Carlton I would say go for it, they don't lose anything. We will 100% be on our last pick prior to then. So the decision will be redraft Chesser, take someone else in a shallow draft or hold a spot for SSP.
Carlton will/should know this also. We need to stand firm publicly/privately and ask for fair compo that actually suits our needs (I.e. not 44 or F2/F3 that don’t improve us now).
If we lose Chesser for nothing so be it
I'd take TDK compo for Hawks first plus our future second. Or ideally a bunch of priority end of first roundersWe would have to threaten to use the Hawk's second on him, we would lose that plus whatever they offer us. If I was Carlton I would say go for it, they don't lose anything.
Why the aversion to a F2 from Carlton? We will 100% be on our last pick prior to then. So the decision will be redraft Chesser, take someone else in a shallow draft or hold a spot for SSP.

Ever since the drive across the nullabor story there's been some serious fangirl love for Chesser on this board, like he can do no wrong.
Looking forward to that finally being over at least.
He's a grub of Rioli proportions. Milked the club dry throughout his injuries as he added nothing, then ended up inevitably being a dud selection and a turncoat to boot when we desperately needed that draft pick to stick.

Why the aversion to a F2 from Carlton?
Next year is meant to be a stronger and less compromised draft. We picked up Shanahan for a later pick than what this pick is projected to be.
Fair enough a second rounder this year would be crap - but a F2 from a poor team in a strong draft is a good return for a player who has shown very little to warrant the reaction to him leaving.
*Edit I understand the arguments that Carlton won't want to give up future picks but that's their problem. If they want Chesser now they can figure out a way to trade back into the draft next year.
