Since moving to Brisbane at the end of 2018, over 7 seasons Neale has played 158 of a possible 169 games

Durability hasn’t been an issue for him

Would be a mighty addition to the club in the unlikely event it becomes reality

I am not knocking Neale as a player in any way or saying he would be unwelcome. But he is 32 and has played in a position where he is going to (and has) taken a fair bit of physical contact and run a lot of miles. It's not like he has been cruising around on a half back flank getting easy handballs from team mates for most of his career. There are players who are older like Pendlebury but their bodies will have taken a lot less punishment than Neale's has. You would have to think he has two years max left in him. Father Time catches up with everybody. If he wanted to come then thats great but i would think 40 - 50 more games would be the absolute max he has left in him. Not worth giving up too much draft capital for.

I'm with dip shit here, Neale is old and past it and injury prone. Wouldn't want him anywhere near out boys.

I didn't say i "wouldn't want him anywhere near our boys", woketard. I said i wouldn't want to give anything more than a late pick for him or sign him for any more than two years.

Really, why the negativity on acquiring Neale's services?

If it's minimal, requires next to no picks and costs only money, isn't it a win-win? We're dying for senior mature bodies that stand up in big moments and demand standards. Guys like Neale embody this, and in my mind, he is only taking Yeo's spot when his body fails him again.

Sharp / Reid / Hewett development will only benefit them with Neale playing.

Just needs to be at the right price, which is R3/R4 pick.

120 of those games came this year.

I heard you loud and clear "Neale is a spud and he'd ruin our club". Nail on the head, dip shit.

Very worse case scenario with Neale is that if injured he is a glorified extra midfield/stoppage coach (our huge weakness) that gets paid out of the player salary cap (where we will have plenty of space) instead of the coaching soft cap.

Can't see the benefit of trading out a best 22 senior player for a future pick when our main goal for next season is to improve and be more competitive and have more senior leaders. Just a sideways move with Ryan, we'd be better off keeping him for the season and ultimately probably getting the same pick value in 12 months time.

Either needs to be assisting a pick upgrade to another top 20 pick or assisting in bringing in another ready to go player.
Someone needs to send this to Pyke

My point is that his body will have been through a lot already. Even if that is not yet showing on the surface yet through games missed because of injury the wear and tear is still going to be there. And the point where it start manifesting and becoming visible via injuries can't be that far away. Decline through age doesn't happen at a linear rate, i.e. one year you miss 3 games through injury, the next year 5 games, the next year 7 games etc. It happens at an exponential rate. As the saying about bankruptcy goes, it started hapenning slowly at first and then all at once.

If we can get him for a late pick because Brisbane need a salary dump and he is happy with two years (albeit highly paid) then thats great. But i doubt that Brisbane will offload him for a late pick and i doubt that he would not want to massively cash in in order to be convince to come here.

Lot of people going to look stupid with their negativity regarding Neale whe he polls Brownlow votes in 119 out of the 120 games he's played this year.

Who cares? He's a bonafide star and leader.

Neale wouldn't be coming here to lead us into our next finals campaign - He'd be coming to lead, set elite standards, & support our young mids for 2-3yrs.

It's a Mitchell to WCE, or Hodge to Bris type move. It'd be a salary dump for Bris, & cost us minimal draft capital.

Would love the rumour to be real
Neale is much much better than smitchell was when he came over. He was totally cooked and could basically only handball to guys under extreme pressure

Tell this to Bender the small peen.

He's the only one still not convinced.

Jesus, has ANY credible source actually linked us to Neale? Or is this another BF rumour that people are trying to will into existence?
Reportedly keen to move back to WA, Dockers not interested, is what's doing the rounds on social media these past few days.

Pretty sure Lachie won't come to West Coast as long as we still have Wopohl on staff anyway.
